Direct Ambient Mass Spectrometry for Food, Beverage, and Agricultural Sample Analysis and Research

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, Volume 45, Issue 2, Page 429-452, March/April 2026.
ABSTRACT Ambient and direct mass spectrometry (MS) methods are becoming increasingly used for the rapid analysis of food, beverage and agricultural samples. Novel ionization approaches combined with targeted, or untargeted workflows provide analytical outcomes within a greatly reduced time period compared to traditional separation science coupled with ...

Disruption of the l‐DOPA Receptor Gpr143/OA1‐Gene in Mice Creates a Unique Mixed Psychosis‐Like Phenotype

open access: yesNeuropsychopharmacology Reports, Volume 46, Issue 1, March 2026.
We analyzed the behavior of GPR143 gene‐deficient mice. GPR143‐KO mice displayed a mixed psychiatric phenotype. GPR143 may play a role in mesolimbic and mesocortical functions underlying sensory gating, reward, social hierarchy, cognition, and emotional regulation. ABSTRACT GPR143, originally identified as the gene product of ocular albinism 1 (OA1), a

Longitudinal Alzheimer’s Disease Progression Modelling via Hybrid Vision Transformers and Recurrent Neural Networks With Cross‐Modal Feature Fusion

open access: yesExpert Systems, Volume 43, Issue 3, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Modelling the evolution of Alzheimer's disease (AD) requires a thorough spatiotemporal study of longitudinal neuroimaging data. We propose in this paper a novel deep learning framework that uses a parallel combination of Recurrent Neural Networks (RNNs) and Vision Transformers (ViT) to extract temporal disease dynamics and spatial structural ...

Dynamic Memory‐Augmented Whale Optimization Algorithm (DMA‐WOA) as Feature Descriptor for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome Detection

open access: yesApplied AI Letters, Volume 7, Issue 1, February 2026.
Proposed approach for this study. ABSTRACT This study introduces a dynamically memory‐adjusted whale optimization algorithm (DMA‐WOA) for feature selection in polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) diagnosis. To overcome the standard WOA's limitations in balancing exploration and exploitation, DMA‐WOA incorporated adaptive memory control to improve ...

Assessment of Odor Removal in Rigid Polypropylene Waste: Comprehensive Characterization and Washing Comparison

open access: yesGlobal Challenges, Volume 10, Issue 2, February 2026.
This study examines how washing modifies odors in post‐consumer polypropylene plastics. Different washing conditions are compared by using sensory panels and advanced chemical analysis. Hot and detergent‐based washing removes key odor‐causing compounds, replacing moldy notes with cleaner, soapy impressions.

State‐space models and inference approaches for aquatic animal tracking with passive acoustic telemetry and biologging sensors

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 2, Page 418-434, February 2026.
Abstract Passive acoustic telemetry systems are widely deployed to track animals in aquatic environments. However, investments in integrative methods of data analysis have remained comparatively limited, with current workflows typically considering individual movements separately from space use, home ranges and residency.

Comparison of 3D‐Printed Patient Model Versus Animal Cadaveric Model in Periodontal Surgery Block Course—What Is More Feasible for Beginners? A Pilot Study

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dental Education, Volume 30, Issue 1, Page 39-45, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Periodontal surgery is part of the dental curriculum at German universities. A particular challenge is to provide a basic understanding of surgery. This is the first pilot study evaluating the extent to which regenerative therapy or lower molar hemisection can be learned using a specially produced 3D‐individualised patient model ...
