Surveillance of Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis is generally considered to benefit from molecular techniques like multiple-locus variable-number of tandem repeats analysis (MLVA), which allow early detection and confinement of ...

Variable Number Tandem Repeats in the Mitochondrial DNA of Lentinula edodes [PDF]
Variable number tandem repeats (VNTRs) in mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) of Lentinula edodes are of interest for their role in mtDNA variation and their application as genetic marker. Sequence analysis of three L. edodes mtDNAs revealed the presence of VNTRs of two categories.

This study investigated how PYCR1 inhibition in bone marrow stromal cells (BMSCs) indirectly affects multiple myeloma (MM) cell metabolism and viability. Culturing MM cells in conditioned medium from PYCR1‐silenced BMSCs impaired oxidative phosphorylation and increased sensitivity to bortezomib.

Cross species transmission of Mycobacterium bovis infection at the wildlife/livestock interface in South Africa [PDF]
Bovine tuberculosis affects cattle in South Africa and is known to be endemic in wildlife with the African buffalo (Syncerus caffer) being recognized as the maintenance host.

ClassTR: Classifying Within-Host Heterogeneity Based on Tandem Repeats with Application to Mycobacterium tuberculosis Infections. [PDF]
Genomic tools have revealed genetically diverse pathogens within some hosts. Within-host pathogen diversity, which we refer to as "complex infection", is increasingly recognized as a determinant of treatment outcome for infections like tuberculosis ...

Are Variable-Number Tandem Repeats Appropriate for GenotypingMycobacterium leprae? [PDF]
ABSTRACTComparative genomics analysis of the Tamil Nadu strain ofMycobacterium lepraehas uncovered several polymorphic sites with potential as epidemiological tools. In this study we compared the stability of two different markers of genomic biodiversity ofM. lepraein several biopsy samples isolated from the same leprosy patient.

Following high dose rate brachytherapy (HDR‐BT) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), patients were classified as responders and nonresponders. Post‐therapy serum induced increased BrdU incorporation and Cyclin E expression of Huh7 and HepG2 cells in nonresponders, but decreased levels in responders.

Polymorphic Tandem Repeat (PTR) is a common form of polymorphism in the human genome. A PTR consists in a variation found in an individual (or in a population) of the number of repeating units of a Tandem Repeat (TR) locus of the genome with respect to ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.
