Discrete variable structure control systems

International Journal of Systems Science, 1993
Abstract We discretize n-th order linear systems with variable structure control under a particular discretisation scheme and analyse these systems in detail. The occurrence and structure of pseudo-sliding modes give insight into the corresponding sliding modes for continuous systems, and enable the relation between the system parameters and the ...

Variable structure control of stochastic systems

Systems & Control Letters, 1994
Variable structure control (VSC) using sliding modes has been studied for many years, and its robustness properties with respect to unknown parameters and deterministic disturbances are well-known. The present paper extends VSC theory to discrete-time stochastic systems, assuming an additive Gaussian noise with mean zero.

Variable structure control of quantum systems

2015 54th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC), 2015
We prepare an arbitrary quantum state in the presence of noisy environment as well as systematic uncertainty using a variable structure control method involving quantum weak measurement. We first steer the quantum state to a sliding surface and then manipulate the state from the sliding surface to the target by quantum weak measurement.

Approximability of variable structure control systems

29th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1990
A definition of generalized approximability for variable structure control systems that does not impose existence of the equivalent control is introduced. It is required that an unique ideal sliding state exists and attracts every real state, without assuming uniqueness of the sliding (equivalent) control.

Canonical form variable structure control systems

Proceedings. ICCON IEEE International Conference on Control and Applications, 2005
This paper shows how a canonical system and problem description can simplify the design and the analysis procedure of variable structure control systems (VSCS). Some of the fundamental restrictions and interdependences of VSCS are shown and a straightforward method of design and analysis is introduced.

Structurally variable control of Lurie systems

International Journal of Control, 2019
A solution to the problem of structurally variable control synthesis for time-invariant Lurie systems is of both theoretical and engineering significance.

Stability of variable structure control systems

Proceedings of 1995 American Control Conference - ACC'95, 2005
This paper studies asymptotic stability of a continuous implementation of variable structure control in which a signum function is approximated by a saturation nonlinear function. It is shown that the closed ring system is globally uniformly ultimately bounded with respect to a compact set around the origin.

Optimal Observation for Variable-Structure Systems

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1975
Abstract Given a deterministic dynamic system, linear in the state variables and with controls (programmable parameters) entering multiplicatively, we formulate the problem of optimal recovery of the initial state from a sequence of output observations, and give examples for which this problem is well-posed and can be solved.

Discrete-time variable structure control systems

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 1995
This paper presents a treatment of discrete variable structure control systems. The purpose is to lay a foundation upon which design of such type of systems can be made properly. Phenomena of switching, reaching, and quasi-sliding mode are investigated thoroughly. Terms pertaining to discrete variable structure control are defined.

Variable structure control using system decomposition

IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, 1992
Summary: Variable structure systems are designed so that desirable performance is achieved by judicious input switching. In this note, we introduce a new approach for the design of large variable structure systems subject to control bounds. The method includes a new switching hyperplane design based on generalized inverses and system decomposition.
