Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Variational formulation of high performance finite elements: Parametrized variational principles [PDF]

open access: yes, 1991
High performance elements are simple finite elements constructed to deliver engineering accuracy with coarse arbitrary grids. This is part of a series on the variational basis of high-performance elements, with emphasis on those constructed with the free

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Aspects of the Schwinger Variational Principle Formulation

open access: yesTrends in Computational and Applied Mathematics, 2000
The application of the Schwinger variational principle-SVP and, in particular, the second Born approximation to the evaluation of scattering amplitude and integral cross sections for eletron-atom impact is ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

A Variational Formulation of the Compressible Throughflow Problem [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
A variational formulation of the compressible throughflow problem is developed. The method is suitable for the calculation of throughflow flow fields in which large rotational effects, large compressibility effects and large variations in hub and tip ...

Some results on the eigenvalue problem for a fractional elliptic equation

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2019
This paper deals with the eigenvalue problem for a fractional variable coefficients elliptic equation defined on a bounded domain. Compared to the previous work, we prove a quite different variational formulation of the first eigenvalue for the above ...

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

On a Variational Formulation of QSVD and RSVD [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Recently, Chu, Funderlic and Golub [ SIAM J. Matrix Anal. Appl., 18:1082--1092, 1997] presented a variational formulation for the quotient singular value decomposition (QSVD) of two matrices A 2 R n\Thetam ; C 2 R p\Thetam which is a generalization ...

VARIATIONAL FORMULATION OF EISENHART'S UNIFIED THEORY [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Modern Physics A, 2009
Eisenhart's classical unified field theory is based on a non-Riemannian affine connection related to the covariant derivative of the electromagnetic field tensor. The sourceless field equations of this theory arise from vanishing of the torsion trace and the symmetrized Ricci tensor.
