Elimination of long-term variation from chaotic light curves [PDF]
We performed a comparative dynamical investigation of chaotic test data using the global flow reconstruction method. We demonstrate that large-amplitude, long-term variations may have a disturbing effect in the analysis. The Empirical Mode Decomposition method (EMD) and the Fourier filtering were tested to remove the additional variations. Test results

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a possibility for different applications in early and late stage breast cancer management. In early breast cancer tumor informed approaches are increasingly used for detecting molecular residual disease (MRD) and early recurrence. In advanced stage, ctDNA provides a possibility for monitoring disease progression and

Variational Methods and Planar Elliptic Growth [PDF]
A nested family of growing or shrinking planar domains is called a Laplacian growth process if the normal velocity of each domain's boundary is proportional to the gradient of the domain's Green function with a fixed singularity on the interior.

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

Seismic tomography using variational inference methods [PDF]
Seismic tomography is a methodology to image the interior of solid or fluid media, and is often used to map properties in the subsurface of the Earth. In order to better interpret the resulting images it is important to assess imaging uncertainties.

A comparative study of circulating tumor cell isolation and enumeration technologies in lung cancer
Lung cancer cells were spiked into donor blood to evaluate the recovery rates of the following circulating tumor cell (CTC) enrichment technologies: CellMag™, EasySep™, RosetteSep™, Parsortix® PR1, and Parsortix® Prototype systems. Each method's advantages and disadvantages are described.

Necessary conditions for variational regularization schemes
We study variational regularization methods in a general framework, more precisely those methods that use a discrepancy and a regularization functional.

Cell‐free and extracellular vesicle microRNAs with clinical utility for solid tumors
Cell‐free microRNAs (cfmiRs) are small‐RNA circulating molecules detectable in almost all body biofluids. Innovative technologies have improved the application of cfmiRs to oncology, with a focus on clinical needs for different solid tumors, but with emphasis on diagnosis, prognosis, cancer recurrence, as well as treatment monitoring.

The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...
