Schubert varieties, toric varieties and ladder determinantal varieties [PDF]
We construct certain normal toric varieties (associated to finite distributive lattices) which are degenerations of the Grassmannians. We also determine the singular loci for certain normal toric varieties, namely the ones which are certain ladder determinantal varieties.

ABSTRACT Background Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, with an overall survival now surpassing 90% in developed countries. However, treatments are not without adverse effects. In this study, we apply the severe toxicity‐free survival (STFS) framework to determine the prevalence of 21 physician‐defined severe ...

Geographical and Ecological Differences in Pepper Cultivation and Consumption in China
Peppers (Capsicum spp.) are used as food items, and particularly condiments, across most of the world. Accordingly, these vegetables occupy the largest annual stable planting area (>21,000 km2) in China.

Secant varieties of adjoint varietie
The adjoint varieties of this paper are certain varieties obtained from the adjoint representation of a connected simple algebraic group -- they have nothing to do with the adjoints of classical algebraic geometry. It is shown that these adjoint varieties provide examples of varieties with degenerate secant varieties. The main results of the paper are:

ABSTRACT Background Type 1 plasminogen deficiency (PLGD‐1) is an ultra‐rare autosomal recessive disorder caused by variants in the PLG gene and affects approximately 1.6 individuals per million. The condition is characterized by decreased plasminogen levels and impaired function, resulting in fibrin‐rich lesions on mucous membranes throughout the body.

Personalized Zebrafish Models for Fusion‐Positive Pediatric Sarcomas
ABSTRACT Clinical sequencing efforts have revolutionized our approaches to categorizing pediatric cancers in real time. This has dramatically improved our ability to profile pediatric tumors, identify actionable vulnerabilities, and influence clinical care.

Osculating Varieties of Veronese Varieties and Their Higher Secant Varieties [PDF]
AbstractWe consider the k-osculating varieties Ok,n.d to the (Veronese) d-uple embeddings of ℙn. We study the dimension of their higher secant varieties via inverse systems (apolarity). By associating certain 0-dimensional schemes Y ⊂ ℙn to and by studying their Hilbert functions, we are able, in several cases, to determine whether those secant ...

The Role of “Adult‐Onset” Cancer Predisposition Genes in Pediatric Cancer: A Comprehensive Review
ABSTRACT Current literature estimates that 10% of pediatric cancers are caused by pathogenic or likely pathogenic (P/LP) germline variants in cancer predisposition genes (CPGs). Variants in CPGs thought to increase cancer risk exclusively during adulthood are referred to as “adult‐onset” CPGs (aoCPGs).

Health Literacy, Self‐Efficacy and Knowledge of Sickle Cell Disease Among Caregivers
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a hereditary blood disorder in which abnormal haemoglobin leads to severe anaemia, painful crises and organ failure. Caregivers’ health literacy (HL) – their ability to assess, understand and apply information, and interact with healthcare professionals – is crucial for managing children with SCD, yet ...
