Counting rational points on Hirzebruch–Kleinschmidt varieties over global function fields

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory
Inspired by Bourqui's work on anticanonical height zeta functions on Hirzebruch surfaces, we study height zeta functions of split toric varieties with Picard rank 2 over global function fields, with respect to height functions associated with big metrized line bundles.

A comparison between obstructions to local-global principles over semiglobal fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
We consider local-global principles for rational points on varieties, in particular torsors, over one-variable function fields over complete discretely valued fields.

Resistance Breeding Increases Winter Wheat Gross Margins–An Economic Assessment for Germany

open access: yesFrontiers in Agronomy, 2021
Improved wheat varieties have ameliorated our food production. Intensive cropping systems, as in Germany, achieve very high grain yields and thus contribute greatly to global food security.

Optimizing water and nitrogen productivity of wheat and triticale across diverse production environments to improve the sustainability of baked products

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science, 2022
Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a major global commodity and the primary source for baked products in agri-food supply chains. Consumers are increasingly demanding more nutritious food products with less environmental degradation, particularly related to

GENERALIZED EXPLICIT DESCENT AND ITS APPLICATION TO CURVES OF GENUS 3

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma, 2016
We introduce a common generalization of essentially all known methods for explicit computation of Selmer groups, which are used to bound the ranks of abelian varieties over global fields.

Trace zero varieties in cryptography : optimal representation and index calculus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The trace zero variety associated to an elliptic or hyperelliptic curve is an abelian variety defined over a finite field F_q. Its F_q-rational points yield a finite group, the trace zero subgroup of the degree zero Picard group of the original curve ...

Failure of the local-global principle for isotropy of quadratic forms over function fields

open access: yes, 2023
We prove the failure of the local-global principle, with respect to discrete valuations, for isotropy of quadratic forms over function fields of transcendence degree at least 2 over algebraically closed fields.

The $p$-adic monodromy group of abelian varieties over global function fields of characteristic $p$

open access: yesDocumenta Mathematica, 2022
We prove an analogue of the Tate isogeny conjecture and the semi-simplicity conjecture for overconvergent crystalline Dieudonné modules of abelian varieties defined over global function fields of characteristic p .

Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) – Part I

open access: yesVoices in Bioethics, 2015
Introduction The phenomena and practice of improving crop and animal species seem germane to humanity across every known documented civilization. Some of these methods include cross and selective hybridization, grafting among others.
