Discovery and Structural Characterization of a Highly Protective Neutralizing Antibody Targeting the Mpox Virus A35R Protein

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 7, Issue 7, July 2026.
High‐affinity monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) targeting the MPXV EEV protein A35R were rapidly isolated using mRNA‐LNP vaccination and the Beacon single‐cell sorting Optofluidic platform, followed by functional profiling. One mAb, 17H1, potently neutralized authentic MPXV and conferred complete protection in vivo.

Crossing Borders of Care: The Professionalization of Women in Nursing and China–US Collaboration at Xiangya, 1909–1926

open access: yesNursing Inquiry, Volume 33, Issue 3, July 2026.
ABSTRACT This article examines the development of modern nursing education in China through a case study of the Xiangya School of Nursing in Changsha between 1909 and 1926. Founded in 1911 by the Yale‐in‐China Association, a non‐denominational mission, Xiangya was among the earliest nursing schools in China to promote undergraduate nursing education ...

In silico-accelerated identification of conserved and immunogenic variola/vaccinia T-cell epitopes

open access: yes, 2009
Epitopes shared by the vaccinia and variola viruses underlie the protective effect of vaccinia immunization against variola infection. We set out to identify a subset of cross-reactive epitopes using bioinformatics and immunological methods.

Microstructural Evidence for Early Childhood Stress in a Community in Transition at Hisban, Jordan

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Biological Anthropology, Volume 190, Issue 2, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Objectives Identification of stress across infancy and childhood can reflect maternal and environmental influences on early life health. In the 19th century community of Hisban, many infants died before 2 years of age with evidence of metabolic disease, including rickets, that likely ties with maternal health.

Non‐negative Gaussian estimation of variance components in random effects models

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Statistics, Volume 54, Issue 2, June 2026.
Abstract When used to estimate variance components (VCs), confidence intervals (CIs) can be truncated at zero, have a point estimate not in the quoted CI, be empty with positive probability, or be all‐inclusive. This is because they have conflicting dual roles, since they are considered to cover the parameter with a specified probability while also ...

Building a Robust Investigator‐Initiated Platform: The I‐CARE Experience

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 119, Issue 6, Page 1537-1546, June 2026.
Investigator‐initiated studies that include information collected by patients are rising, but limited data is available on patient and investigator experience in this setting. The I‐CARE cohort included patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) monthly collecting clinical information in 15 countries for up to 6 years.
