Generation of human adult mesenchymal stromal/stem cells expressing defined xenogenic vascular endothelial growth factor levels by optimized transduction and flow cytometry purification [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Adult mesenchymal stromal/stem cells (MSCs) are a valuable source of multipotent progenitors for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, but may require to be genetically modified to widen their efficacy in therapeutic applications.

Fabrication of strong, bioactive vascular grafts with PCL/collagen and PCL/silica bilayers for small-diameter vascular applications

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2019
In vascular surgical applications, small-diameter vascular grafts made from synthetic polymers are rarely commercialized, owing to delayed reendothelialization and subsequent thrombus formation and occlusion.

Prosthetic vascular graft infection

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1992
Abstract The aetiology, diagnosis and management of prosthetic vascular graft infection are reviewed. The importance of contamination at the time of surgery as the crucial aetiological factor is highlighted. Staphylococcus epidermidis is the causative organism in over 50 per cent of cases and the reasons for this are explored.

Risk of Retinopathy Associated with Long‐Term Use of Hydroxychloroquine in Patients with Rheumatic Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to estimate the prevalence and cumulative incidence of hydroxychloroquine retinopathy (HCQ‐R) and its risk factors among patients receiving long‐term HCQ with rheumatic diseases through a systematic review and meta‐analysis of observational studies that used spectral‐domain optical coherence tomography (SD‐OCT) for screening ...

Intrinsic Photoactive Star ZnPc–Poly(glutamate) Nanoplatforms for Multimodal Glioblastoma Therapy and Brain‐Targeted Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An intrinsic photoactive star‐shaped zinc phtalocyanine‐poly(L‐glutamic acid) (ZnPc‐PGA) nanoplatform for multimodal glioblastoma (GBM) therapy and brain‐targeted elivery. A ZnPc‐PGA‐based multifunctional theranostic nanocarrier platform enables image‐guided, multimodal GBM therapy. ZnPc‐PGA nanocarriers support the integration of fluorescence imaging,

Early renal arterial rupture and arterial pseudoaneurysm in graft kidneys from the same deceased donor

open access: yesTzu Chi Medical Journal, 2018
Vascular complications are serious problems after kidney transplantation. An aneurysm or rupture in a graft artery is a rare but potentially devastating complication, which may lead to renal function impairment, graft loss, or even death.
