Vascular recruitment in skeletal muscle during exercise and hyperinsulinemia assessed by contrast ultrasound

American Journal of Physiology-Endocrinology and Metabolism, 2002
The purpose of this study was to noninvasively quantify the effects of insulin on capillary blood volume (capBV) and RBC velocity ( V RBC) in skeletal muscle in vivo with the use of contrast-enhanced ultrasound. We performed contrast ultrasound of the rat hindlimb adductor muscles at baseline and after 2-h infusions of either insulin (3 or 40 mU ยท kg ...

[Non-invasive study of pulmonary vascular recruitment during exercise].

Revue de pneumologie clinique, 2010
The in vivo study of the pulmonary microcirculation, and its recruitment, is currently not common, although it may be of interest. The intrabreath analysis (IB) of the carbon monoxide (CO) and acetylene (C(2)H(2)) diffusion is used to study the transfer of CO (TLCO) and the pulmonary capillary blood flow (Qs), particularly during exercise.

HIF-1A INITIATES VASCULAR RECRUITMENT AND IRREVERSIBLE FIBROSIS IN TENDON

Orthopaedic Proceedings
Tendinopathy is the most common form of chronic tendon disorders, accounting for up 30% of all musculoskeletal clinic visits [1]. In tendon disease, the largely avascular tendon tissue often becomes hypervascularized and fibrotic [2]. As blood vessel growth and angiogenic signaling molecules are often induced by the lack of adequate nutrients and ...

Vascular endothelial cell adhesion and signaling during leukocyte recruitment.

Advances in dermatology, 2004
During inflammation, coordinated expression of cytokine-induced adhesion molecules (CAMs) on postcapillary venular endothelial cells (ECs) regulates leukocyte recruitment. During their recruitment from blood, leukocytes adhere to EC CAMs, activating signaling pathways inside ECs.
