Survivin modulates stiffness-induced vascular smooth muscle cell motility

open access: yesAPL Bioengineering
Arterial stiffness is a contributor to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and is associated with the aberrant migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). However, the mechanisms driving VSMC migration in stiff environments remain unclear.

Biomimetic Cell Membrane‐Coated Scaffolds for Enhanced Tissue Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines the development and use of cell membrane‐coated scaffolds in tissue engineering. Bioinspired phospholipid and glycocalyx coatings enhance anti‐fouling, anti‐thrombogenic, and selective molecular recognition properties. Native cell membrane coatings further support cell‐specific interactions, immune modulation, and reduced bacterial

Nanostructured 316L Stainless Steel Stent Surfaces Improve Corrosion Resistance, and Enhance Endothelization and Hemocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of nanostructured surface modification on corrosion resistance, HUVEC functions, and platelet interactions of 316L SS for cardiovascular stents. Nanostructured surfaces enhanced HUVEC proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis‐related gene expression while reducing platelet adhesion and hemolysis.

Spatial multiomics atlas reveals smooth muscle phenotypic transformation and metabolic reprogramming in diabetic macroangiopathy

open access: yesCardiovascular Diabetology
Background Diabetic macroangiopathy has been the main cause of death and disability in diabetic patients. The mechanisms underlying smooth muscle cell transformation and metabolic reprogramming other than abnormal glucose and lipid metabolism remain to ...

Exploring the Role of Stent Strut Geometry in Cellular Behavior: An In Vitro Chip Model to Understand In‐Stent Restenosis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
An engineered in vitro platform mimicking stent strut cross‐sectional shapes reveals how geometry influences cell behavior. Sharp‐cornered geometries promote cell proliferation and matrix alignment, while rounded shapes reduce these effects. The findings align with clinical outcomes and suggest intracellular tension as a key driver, offering a ...
