Evaluation of placental vascularization indices in monochorionic diamniotic and dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Objectives We aimed to investigate and compare placental vascularization indices between monochorionic-diamniotic, dichorionic- diamniotic normal twin pregnancies, and normal singular pregnancies.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Magnetic blood vessel devices as vascularization models

open access: yes, 2022
Mimicking the vascularization of the native tissue microenvironment is a widely studied yet still challenging field of research. In this work, artificial blood vessels were fabricated in novel scaffolds made of gelatin and magnetic nanoparticles.

Utility of Diagnostic Ultrasound in Evaluating Fracture Healing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014
With increase in population, modes of transportation and a fast pace of life, an individual’s chances of accident and thereby chances of getting fractured have increased significantly.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

In vitro vascularization of human connective microtissues

open access: yes, 2007
Vascularization is one of the most central processes enabling multicellular life. Owing to the complexity of vascularization regulatory networks, minor control imbalances often have severe pathologic consequences ranging from ischemic diseases to cancer.

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Circulating tumor cell viability during and after radiotherapy mirrors treatment response in cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Created in BioRender. Wikman, H.
