Alcohol-induced inhibition of bone formation and neovascularization contributes to the failure of fracture healing via the miR-19a-3p/FOXF2 axis

open access: yesBone & Joint Research, 2022
Aims: Alcoholism is a well-known detrimental factor in fracture healing. However, the underlying mechanism of alcohol-inhibited fracture healing remains poorly understood.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Transplantation of Cardiac Mesenchymal Progenitor Cell Sheets for Myocardial Vascularization after an Infarction (Experimental Study)

open access: yesОбщая реаниматология, 2018
Purpose. To develop a method of producing tissue-engineered constructs (TECs) on the basis of resident mesenchymal progenitor cells (MPC) of the human heart and to assess the effect of TECs transplantation on regenerative processes in the heart using a ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Mimicking 3D bone microenvironment using a hybrid hydrogel-nanocomposite scaffold and human adipose-derived stem cells for bone differentiation and vascularization [PDF]

open access: yesBiofunctional Materials
Bioengineered bone tissues could bypass limitations of traditional reconstructive methods such as bone grafts or foreign-body implants, but to date this approach has been limited by immaturity of engineered bones and vascularization.

Regulating Type H Vessel Formation and Bone Metabolism via Bone‐Targeting Oral Micro/Nano‐Hydrogel Microspheres to Prevent Bone Loss

open access: yesAdvanced Science, 2023
Postmenopausal osteoporosis is one of the most prevalent skeletal disorders in women and is featured by the imbalance between intraosseous vascularization and bone metabolism.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Utility of Diagnostic Ultrasound in Evaluating Fracture Healing [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2014
With increase in population, modes of transportation and a fast pace of life, an individual’s chances of accident and thereby chances of getting fractured have increased significantly.
