The FOXC2‐LAMA4 Axis Orchestrates Vasculogenic Mimicry and Immunosuppressive Niche Formation to Drive Metastatic Cascade in Renal Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Advanced clear cell renal cell carcinoma metastasis is driven by a FOXC2+ tumor subpopulation. These cells execute vasculogenic mimicry for dissemination and secrete LAMA4. LAMA4 engages macrophage ITGA6, activating the STAT6/GATA3 axis to polarize macrophages into a pro‐metastatic, immunosuppressive phenotype.

Bartonella infections are rare in blood-fed Ixodes scapularis and Ixodes pacificus ticks collected from rodents in the United States

open access: yesParasites & Vectors
Background Ixodes scapularis and Ixodes pacificus are important vectors of multiple pathogens in the United States. However, their role in transmission of Bartonella spp., which are commonly reported in rodents and fleas, has been debated.

Sentinel surveillance systems with special focus on vector-borne diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
In the past few decades, vector-borne diseases have been spreading into countries previously free of these agents. It is necessary for a surveillance method to be tailored to the biology of these agents in order to detect their incursion.

β‐Adrenergic Signaling Promotes Anti‐Tumor Immunity in TP53‐mutant Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
β‐adrenergic stimulation enhances anti‐tumor immunity in TP53‐deficient oral squamous cell carcinoma by inducing tumor‐derived secretion of CXCL10, which attracts and activates cytotoxic CD8+ T cells. The findings demonstrate that β‐adrenergic signaling alters tumor–immune interactions via CXCL10‐mediated paracrine activation, revealing a neuro‐immune ...

Alphaviral Capsid Proteins Inhibit Stress Granule Assembly via Competitive RNA Binding With G3BP1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stress granules exert antiviral functions. This study illustrates a conserved function of alphaviral capsid proteins in modulating stress granules. Oligomerization mediated by a helical motif coupled with a positively charged intrinsically disordered region (IDR) directly competes with G3BP1 for RNA binding, thereby disrupting G3BP1‐RNA liquid–liquid ...

GPCRs in CAR‐T Cell Immunotherapy: Expanding the Target Landscape and Enhancing Therapeutic Efficacy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chimeric antigen receptor T cell therapy faces dual challenges of target scarcity and an immunosuppressive microenvironment in solid tumors. This review highlights how G protein‐coupled receptors can serve as both novel targets to expand the therapeutic scope and functional modules to enhance CAR‐T cell efficacy.

Contained semi-field environments for ecological studies on transgenic African malaria vectors: benefits and constraints [PDF]

open access: yes
New interventions are needed to reduce the burden of vector-borne diseases like malaria and dengué, which are among the most serious and prevalent infectious diseases worldwide. The release of genetically modified (GM) mosquitoes may offer an alternative
