Minimal approach to neuro-inspired information processing

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience, 2015
To learn and mimic how the brain processes information has been a major research challenge for decades. Despite the efforts, little is known on how we encode, maintain and retrieve our memories.

A 6.7 KBPS vector sum excited linear prediction on TMS320C54X digital signal processor

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper, a 6.7-kbps vector sum excited linear prediction (VSELP) coder with less computational complexity is presented. A very efficient VSELP codebook with nine basis vectors and a heuristic K-selection method (to reduce the search space and ...

Mixed-Length SIMD Code Generation for VLIW Architectures with Multiple Native Vector-Widths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The degree of DLP parallelism in applications is not fixed and varies due to different computational characteristics of applications. On the contrary, most of the processors today include single-width SIMD (vector) hardware to exploit DLP.

Heterozygous loss‐of‐function alleles associate the conserved 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease EXOSC10 with hypersensitivity to the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
EXOSC10, an essential nuclear RNA exosome‐associated 3′‐5′ exoribonuclease, is inhibited by the anticancer drug 5‐fluorouracil (5‐FU), and EXOSC10 depletion increases 5‐FU sensitivity. The colon‐cancer variant EXOSC10S402T, located in a proteolysis motif, is stable and nuclear but nonfunctional in vivo.

Solving banded systems on a parallel processor

open access: yes, 1987
In this paper we examine ways of solving dense, banded systems on different parallel processors. We start with some considerations for processors with vector instructions, then discuss various algorithms for the solution of large, dense, banded systems ...

Construction and exploitation of VLIW ASIPs with heterogeneous vector-widths [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Numerous applications in important domains, such as communication and multimedia, show a significant data-level parallelism (DLP). A large part of the DLP is usually exploited through application vectorization and implementation of vector operations in ...

Adaptor protein CIN85 potentiates the motility of osteosarcoma cells via the Akt/mTOR and MMP2‐COL3A1 axis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CIN85 is highly expressed in osteosarcoma, particularly in metastatic lesions. Its overexpression increases cell migration and Matrigel invasion, while silencing CIN85 suppresses these behaviors. Transcriptome analysis shows that CIN85 regulates MMP2, COL3A1, and Akt/mTOR signaling. Targeting these pathways reverses CIN85‐induced motility, highlighting

New virtually scaling free adaptive CORDIC rotator

open access: yes, 2004
In this article we propose a novel CORDIC rotator algorithm that eliminates the problems of scale factor compensation and limited range of convergence associated with the classical CORDIC algorithm.
