Grasslands, by definition, are dominated by graminoids. Nevertheless, forbs also make up a substantial part of vascular plant diversity in grasslands and are important resources of mammalian herbivores. However, forb recruitment is constrained by successful dominant graminoids, limiting access to safe sites for germination.

Warming temperatures can promote arctic tree seedling establishment and growth, but these effects depend on the environmental context and the seedlings' capacity to acquire limiting resources. Here, we tested how temperature, soil properties, and the presence of a neighbouring shrub influence seedling growth rates.

Aromatic plants, nest bacterial diversity, and nestling condition in Corsican blue tits
According to the ‘nest protection hypothesis', some passerines incorporate fresh aromatic plants into their nests which reduce pathogens that can negatively affect nestlings. We experimentally evaluated the effect of five aromatic plant species on the nest bacterial microbiota of Corsican blue tits Cyanistes caeruleus.
