Robust Control and Actuator Dynamics Compensation for Railway Vehicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A robust controller is designed for active steering of a high speed train bogie with solid axle wheel sets to reduce track irregularity effects on the vehicle’s dynamics and improve stability and curving performance. A half-car railway vehicle model with

Avoiding Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functionals: Simple Nonlinear Sampled–Data Control of a Semi-Active Suspension with Magnetorheological Dampers

open access: yesMachines
This paper presents a novel control design methodology for a magnetorheological (MR) damper-based semi-active suspension system operating under communication-induced time delays, which introduce nonlinear sampled-data dynamics.

Electrochemical Behavior of Flame‐Sprayed Sc‐Doped AlCoCrFeMo High‐Entropy Alloy Coatings in 3.5% Sodium Chloride Solution

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Scandium (Sc)‐doped AlCoCrFeMo HEA coatings are fabricated via flame spraying with 0.1, 0.3, and 0.5 wt% Sc additions. Among these, the HEA‐Sc0.3 coating exhibits the highest corrosion resistance, indicated by a more positive corrosion potential and lower current density.

Robust Static Output Feedback Control of a Semi-Active Vehicle Suspension Based on Magnetorheological Dampers

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This paper proposes a novel design method for a magnetorheological (MR) damper-based semi-active suspension system. An improved MR damper model that accurately describes the hysteretic nature and effect of the applied current is presented.

Electrified Damage in Motion Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The electrified damage in motion systems is a fundamental framework presenting the degradation pathway arising from the coupling of electrical energy transport with mechanical contact and interfacial chemistry. The framework positions electrified damage as a distinct degradation regime with unique characteristic surface morphologies and failures of ...

Experimental study on interaction between a positive mass and a negative effective mass through a mass–spring system

open access: yesTheoretical and Applied Mechanics Letters, 2015
We investigate the interaction between a positive mass and a negative effective mass through a three-mass chain connected with elastic springs, a pair of masses is designed to have an effective negative mass, and it interacts with the third positive one ...

Enhancing Low‐Temperature Performance of Sodium‐Ion Batteries via Anion‐Solvent Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
DOL is introduced into electrolytes as a co‐solvent, increasing slat solubility, ion conductivity, and the de‐solvent process, and forming an anion‐rich solvent shell due to its high interaction with anion. With the above virtues, the batteries using this electrolyte exhibit excellent cycling stability at low temperatures. Abstract Sodium‐ion batteries
