Investigating the Low‐Temperature Phase Stability of the Binary Ta–W System

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Atomistic simulations show that the binary Ta–W system forms ordered intermetallic phases, B2‐TaW and D03‐TaW3, as 0 K ground states. Configurational entropy, however, lowers the free energy of the disordered bcc solid solution, which becomes the stable phase above about 400 K.

Can mental fatigue affect perception of barbell velocity in resistance training?

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Sport Science
Perception of Velocity (PV) is the ability to estimate single repetition velocity during resistance training (RT) exercises. The main purpose of the study was to evaluate the effects of Mental Fatigue (MF) on the accuracy of barbell PV.

Power–Load Relationship of Bench Press, Ballistic Bench Press, and Prone Bench Pull in International Medal-Winning Canoeists and Kayakers

open access: yesSports
Paddler athletes use resistance training (RT) to optimize power output (PO) during competitions. Understanding the power–load relationship (P–Lr) is essential for effective RT prescription.

FastNano Liquid: An Automated Platform for Small‐Angle X‐ray Scattering‐Based Materials Discovery

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present FastNano Liquid, an automated small‐ and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering platform for the combined synthesis and characterization of (nano)materials. The platform is coupled to varied reactor workflows for both in situ studies of reaction kinetics and ex situ screening of synthesis conditions to support machine learning‐guided exploration ...

Cryogenic Deformation Behavior of TiAl and Insights Into Embrittlement After High‐Temperature Exposure Combined With Secondary Ion Mass Spectroscopy of Near Surface Chemistry

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Near‐surface deuterium enrichment profiles for different microstructural types of TiAl after exposure at 700 °C in a heavy water‐containing environment. The deuterium levels are significantly higher than expected from natural occurrence, indicating that the heavy water dissociated during the exposure treatment and entered the specimens.
