Parameter Variation in Planetary Ball Milling of Titanium Aluminide Powder in XHV‐Adequate Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates the effects of milling parameters, including rotational speed, milling duration, and ball‐to‐powder ratio, on TiAl particle size and morphology in an XHV‐equivalent atmosphere. The creation of oxide‐free surfaces enhances the mechanical properties of green bodies.

Effect of Flood Water Diffuser on Flow Pattern of Water during Road Crossing

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2014
One of the methods to reduce the velocity of flood water flow across roads is to design obstacle objects as diffusers and place them alongside the road shoulder. The velocity reduction of water flow depends on the diffusion pattern of water.

Multi-Agent Obstacle Avoidance Using Velocity Obstacles and Control Barrier Functions

open access: yes2025 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA)
Velocity Obstacles (VO) methods form a paradigm for collision avoidance strategies among moving obstacles and agents. While VO methods perform well in simple multi-agent environments, they don't guarantee safety and can show overly conservative behavior in common situations.

Copper‐Based Crystalline‐Metallic Glass Composite Thin Films: A Novel Material with Enhanced Strength and Thermally Stable Nanotwins

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Cu‐based crystal‐glass composite with high‐density twins is identified by a fast screening technique using combinatorial sputtering together with XRD and nanoindentation mapping. This bamboo‐like structure demonstrates homogenous plastic flow and retains high strength during in situ high temperature tests, up to 1 GPa at 550°C, owing to those ...

Prediction of 2D steady flow velocity fields with a CNN surrogate trained on RANS simulations [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences
We present a data-driven surrogate modeling framework based on convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for predicting steady-state two-dimensional velocity fields in incompressible flows.

Recognition of an obstacle in a flow using artificial neural networks

open access: yes, 2017
In this work a series of artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been developed with the capacity to estimate an obstacle's size and location obstructing the flow in a pipe.

Passive Obstacle-Aware Control to Follow Desired Velocities

open access: yesIEEE Robotics and Automation Letters
Evaluating and updating the obstacle avoidance velocity for an autonomous robot in real-time ensures robustness against noise and disturbances. A passive damping controller can obtain the desired motion with a torque-controlled robot, which remains compliant and ensures a safe response to external perturbations.

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Effect of gable roof with various roof pitches and obstacle heights on natural ventilation performance for an isolated building

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering and Sciences, 2022
Numerical analysis based on CFD steady RANS equations was used to study the  airflow characteristics around and within an isolated gable roof building. Parameters that are the main study focus of this research include: streamlines of normalized velocity,
