Verdet constant dispersion measurement using polarization-stepping techniques
Applied Optics, 2008We present a novel method for measuring the Verdet constant dispersion. The proposed method involves spectral polarimetric measurements using three (or more) polarization steps. The procedure has formal similarity with the phase-shifting interferometry (PSI).

Effective Verdet constant in a terbium-doped-core phosphate fiber
Optics Letters, 2009The concept of an effective Verdet constant is proposed and experimentally validated. The effective Verdet constant of light propagation in a fiber includes contributions from the materials in both the core and the cladding. It is measured in a 25 wt.% terbium-doped-core phosphate fiber to be -6.2+/-0.4 rad/(Tm) at 1,053 nm, which is six times larger ...

Verdet constant dispersion of MgF2 in deep-ultraviolet region
Optica Advanced Photonics Congress 2022, 2022The Verdet constant dispersion of MgF2 was evaluated in the wavelength range from 190 nm to 300nm. The Verdet constants were found to be 37.8 rad/Tm at 193nm and 19.5rad/Tm at 248 nm, respectively.

A new Faraday rotation glass with a large Verdet constant
Journal of Applied Physics, 1994Heavily terbium-doped boron-silicate glasses (Tb3+10.4 at. %) with a Verdet constant (632.8 nm, room temperature) as large as −0.338 min/Oe cm, 38% larger than that of the famous FR-5 glasses, have been made. The wavelength and temperature dependencies of the Verdet constants of samples have been investigated in the ranges of 400 to 800 nm and 100 to ...

Variation of the Verdet constant with temperature of terbium gallium garnet
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1992A measurement of the variation of the Verdet constant of terbium gallium garnet as a function of temperature was made for visible and near-infrared wavelengths. By combining results of the angle of rotation presented here with previously published absolute measurements, we determined the Verdet constant as a function of wavelength for wavelengths ...

The measurement system of birefringence and Verdet constant of optical fiber
SPIE Proceedings, 2013The Faraday magneto-optical effect of optical fiber has many applications in monitoring magnetic field and electric current. When a linearly polarized light propagates in the direction of a magnetic field, the plane of polarization will rotate linearly proportional to the strength of the applied magnetic field, which following the relationship of θ F =

Verdet constant of liquids; measurements with a pulsed magnetic field
The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1979The dispersion of the Verdet constant of several inorganic and organic liquids was measured at room temperature with a pulsed magnetic field in the spectral range from 0.3471 μm up to 0.6943 μm. We also measured the Verdet constant, at the wavelength of 0.4579 μm and at room temperature, of the three binary systems methanol–water, ethanol–water, and ...

Measurement of the Verdet Constant in a Terbium-Core-Doped Fiber
Frontiers in Optics 2008/Laser Science XXIV/Plasmonics and Metamaterials/Optical Fabrication and Testing, 2008The effective Verdet constant is measured in a 25-wt%.-terbium-doped phosphate fiber. It is six times larger than a silica fiber, with contributions from the materials in the core and the cladding.

Wavelength dependence of Verdet constant of Tb3+:Y2O3 ceramics
Applied Physics Letters, 2016Samples of the magneto-active material—Tb3+:Y2O3 ceramics with Tb3+ ion concentrations of 10%, 20%, 30%, and 100% (Tb2O3)—were prepared and studied. The wavelength dependence of Verdet constant in the 380 nm–1750 nm range was approximated for all investigated ceramic samples and was predicted for a pure Tb2O3 material.
