Reverse genetics of Mononegavirales: How they work, new vaccines, and new cancer therapeutics. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The order Mononegavirales includes five families: Bornaviridae, Filoviridae, Nyamaviridae, Paramyxoviridae, and Rhabdoviridae. The genome of these viruses is one molecule of negative-sense single strand RNA coding for five to ten genes in a conserved ...

Queuing model of axonal transport [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The motor-driven intracellular transport of vesicles to synaptic targets in the axons and dendrites of neurons plays a crucial role in normal cell function. Moreover, stimulus-dependent regulation of active transport is an important component of long-term synaptic plasticity, whereas the disruption of vesicular transport can lead to the onset of ...

Selection of single-chain antibodies that specifically interact with vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) nucleocapsid and inhibit viral RNA synthesis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
International audienceThe RNA genome of non-segmented negative-strand RNA viruses is completely covered by the nucleoprotein (N) forming a ribonucleoprotein complex, the nucleocapsid.

Limited availability of methods for the detection of xenotransplantation‐relevant viruses in veterinary laboratories

open access: yesXenotransplantation, Volume 31, Issue 3, May/June 2024.
Abstract Background The German Xenotransplantation Consortium is in the process to prepare a clinical trial application (CTA) on xenotransplantation of genetically modified pig hearts. In the CTA documents to the central and national regulatory authorities, that is, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) and the Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI), respectively,

The Transport of Extrusive Volcanic Deposits on Jezero Crater Through Paleofluvial Processes [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Washington Academy of Sciences, Volume 108, Summer 2022, 2022
Jezero, an impact crater in the Syrtis Major quadrangle of Mars, is generally thought to have amassed a large body of liquid water in its ancient past. NASA spectra of the proposed paleolake interpret the youngest surface unit as olivine-bearing minerals crystallized from magma.

Rhabdovirus-based vaccine platforms against henipaviruses. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
UNLABELLED: The emerging zoonotic pathogens Hendra virus (HeV) and Nipah virus (NiV) are in the genus Henipavirus in the family Paramyxoviridae. HeV and NiV infections can be highly fatal to humans and livestock.

International Consensus Statement on Allergy and Rhinology: Sinonasal Tumors

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, Volume 14, Issue 2, Page 149-608, February 2024.
Abstract Background Sinonasal neoplasms, whether benign and malignant, pose a significant challenge to clinicians and represent a model area for multidisciplinary collaboration in order to optimize patient care. The International Consensus Statement on Allergy and Rhinology: Sinonasal Tumors (ICSNT) aims to summarize the best available evidence and ...

Ghost authors revealed: The structure and function of human N6‐methyladenosine RNA methyltransferases

open access: yesWIREs RNA, Volume 15, Issue 1, January/February 2024.
The human N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) epitranscriptome as written by methyltransferase‐like protein (METTL) 3/METTL14 and three methyltransferases which are no longer ghost authors: METTL16, METTL5, and zinc‐finger CCHC‐domain‐containing protein 4. Abstract Despite the discovery of modified nucleic acids nearly 75 years ago, their biological functions are

The Distribution of Virus Proteins in BHK 21 Cells Infected with Vesicular Stomatitis Virus (Indiana C)

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1973
Summary The plasma membranes of BHK 21 cells infected with vesicular stomatitis virus react in complement-fixation tests with antiserum to uninfected BHK 21 cells and with antiserum to the glycosylated ‘spike’ protein found on the surface of the virus (protein G).

Conservation of Potential Phosphorylation Sites in the NS Proteins of the New Jersey and Indiana Serotypes of Vesicular Stomatitis Virus

open access: yesJournal of General Virology, 1986
A full length cDNA copy of the NS mRNA of the Missouri strain (Hazelhurst subtype, New Jersey serotype) of vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV) has been cloned and sequenced. The mRNA is 856 nucleotides long (excluding polyadenylic acid) and encodes a protein of 274 amino acids (mol. wt. 31 000).
