Perspectives in linear accelerator for FLASH VHEE: Study of a compact C-band system [PDF]

open access: yesPhysica Medica, 2022
In order to translate the FLASH effect in clinical use and to treat deep tumors, Very High Electron Energy irradiations could represent a valid technique. Here, we address the main issues in the design of a VHEE FLASH machine. We present preliminary results for a compact C-band system aiming to reach a high accelerating gradient and high current ...

VHEE High Dose Rate Dosimetry Studies in CLEAR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
The 200 MeV electron beam of the CERN Linear Accelerator for Research (CLEAR) user facility at CERN has been intensively used to study the potential use of Very High Energy Electrons (VHEE) in cancer radiotherapy. In particular, irradiation tests have been performed in the high dose rate regime, which has gained a lot of interest for the so called ...

Status of Laser Plasma Accelerator for VHEE-RT

Applying Laser-driven Particle Acceleration II, Medical and Nonmedical Uses of Distinctive Energetic Particle and Photon Sources: SPIE Optics + Optoelectronics Industry Event, 2021
In pioneered works of C. DesRosiers [1] in Radiotherapy (RT) domain, a numerical study of dose deposition conducted with very high energy electron (VHEE) virtual beam and real photon beams has been performed. The conclusion shows that VHEE are providing similar target coverage than X ray, with better sparing of normal tissue in favor of VHEE-RT.
