Vibrotactile timing: Are vibrotactile judgements of duration affected by repetitive stimulation?

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology, 2016
Timing in the vibrotactile modality was explored. Previous research has shown that repetitive auditory stimulation (in the form of click-trains) and visual stimulation (in the form of flickers) can alter duration judgements in a manner consistent with a “speeding up” of an internal clock.

Vibrotactile score: A score metaphor for designing vibrotactile patterns

World Haptics 2009 - Third Joint EuroHaptics conference and Symposium on Haptic Interfaces for Virtual Environment and Teleoperator Systems, 2009
Despite the plethora of vibrotactile applications that already have begun to impact our everyday life, how to design vibrotactile patterns easily and efficiently remains to be a challenge. In this paper, we introduce a vibrotactile score, an effective means for composing vibrotactile patterns.

Evaluation of vibrotactile pattern design using vibrotactile score

2012 IEEE Haptics Symposium (HAPTICS), 2012
Despite the plethora of vibrotactile applications that have impacted our everyday life, how to design vibrotactile patterns efficiently continues to be a challenge. Previously, we proposed a vibrotactile score as an intuitive and effective approach for vibrotactile pattern design.

Vibrotactile transduction and transducers

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2007
The body’s sense of touch is potentially a versatile channel for the conveyance of directional, spatial, command, and timing information. Most practical implementations of vibrotactile systems require compact, light-weight actuators that can be mounted against the body.

Vibrotactile identification of vowels

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1983
The ability of subjects to identify vowels in vibrotactile transformations of consonant–vowel syllables was measured for two types of displays: a spectral display (frequency by intensity), and a vocal tract area function display (vocal tract location by cross-sectional area).

Vibrotactile Rendering for a Traveling Vibrotactile Wave Based on a Haptic Processor

IEEE Transactions on Haptics, 2012
Mobile device users can now experience diverse graphical content ranging from a simple static object to an object having complex dynamic behavior. A user who manipulates and plays with such "objects" wants to haptically "feel" the presence of a static object or the motion of a dynamic object.
