Impact of APOE ε4 Genotype Load on Cognitive Function and Lipid Metabolism in Patients With Cerebral Small Vessel Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Apolipoprotein ε4 (APOE ε4) is a potent genetic risk factor for Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, its role in cerebral small vessel disease (CSVD) remains unclear. Given the clinical and pathological similarities between CSVD and AD, this study aimed to investigate the associations of APOE ε4 gene dosage with cognitive function and

Multifunctional Protein Eutectogels Based on Polyphenolic: Zwitterionic Low‐Transition‐Temperature Mixtures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents the first example of multifunctional protein eutectogels based on a tannic acid: betaine low‐transition‐temperature mixture, exhibiting elastomeric behavior, strong adhesion to various substrates, including biological tissues, and notable anti‐inflammatory properties derived from the natural polyphenol and zwitterion.

Tissue-resident memory CD8+ T cells amplify anti-tumor immunity by triggering antigen spreading through dendritic cells

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
Immunotherapy can induce antigen spreading of antitumor T cell response, which correlates with better outcomes. Here the authors show that tissue-resident memory CD8 T cells promote antigen spreading via lysing tumor cells and promoting their uptake and ...

Unfolded protein stress in the endoplasmic reticulum and mitochondria: a role in neurodegeneration

open access: yesFrontiers in Aging Neuroscience, 2012
Protein folding occurs in several intracellular locations including the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and mitochondria. In normal conditions there is a balance between the levels of unfolded proteins and protein folding machinery.

Sequential Tumor Microenvironment Reprogramming by Nanoplatform Potentiates Sonodynamic‐Chemodynamic Therapy and Immune Checkpoint Blockade in Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A modular nanoplatform capable of sequentially reprogramming tumor microenvironment via cascade actions and responsive therapeutic functions is reported for breast cancer therapy. Via a dual‐targeting mechanism and responsive PD‐L1 antibody release, this nanoplatform enables amplified sonodynamic‐chemodynamic therapy and elicits robust immune response ...

Using community‐based participatory research to contextualize Latino exposure to community violence: A mixed qualitative and spatial analysis approach

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Community Psychology, EarlyView.
Abstract While the relationship between community violence exposure and maladaptive outcomes has been established, the dynamic between violence exposure and resilience factors in youth is not well understood. The current study utilizes a community‐based participatory research (CBPR) framework and employs a novel mixed‐methods approach integrating ...
