Videogame Playing and Psychopathology

The popular press has suggested that video games may cause psychopathology. This study examined the relationship of videogame playing and several psychopathologies. This study found that high-rate videogame playing was not related to neuroticism, several measures of conduct disorders or other measures of pathology measured in this study.

The Upside of Videogame Playing

In our research on the relationship between videogame playing and cognitive outcomes we found that children (n=481, 12 year olds) who played videogames more were more creative than those who played them less. Here we summarize these findings and propose new research to identify mediating cognitive factors influenced by videogame playing.
