Molecular modeling of vimentin filament assembly
Proteins: Structure, Function, and Genetics, 1996Intermediate-filament forming proteins are known to form rod-shaped dimers that are calculated to be 45 nm in length. Molecular modeling indicates that the dimerization is promoted by interchain hydrophobic interactions between sections of alpha helix and beta helix.

[Vimentin and tumor diagnosis].
Zhonghua bing li xue za zhi = Chinese journal of pathology, 1990Vimentin was isolated and purified from the pig eye lens by homogenization, ultracentrifugation, extraction in urea buffer and preparative electrophoresis.
