Synthesis of N‐Benzyl o‐Methoxy Phase I Metabolites for Use as Liquid Chromatography‐Quadrupole Time of Flight Standards

open access: yesChemistrySelect, Volume 11, Issue 30, 10 August 2026.
A novel synthetic method for three phase I o‐desmethyl NBOMe metabolites bromo‐ (3a) and iodo‐ (13b) and chloro‐ analogue (13c) was developed. LC‐QToF analysis confirmed that the synthetic standards matched the major peaks observed in urine sample screens for each of the respective halogen‐substituted metabolites indicating that the synthesised ...

Compound Impacts of Drought and Soil Salinity on Maize Productivity

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 62, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Intensifying soil drought poses a significant threat to maize yields in China. However, the compounding effects of soil drought and salinity remain poorly understood. Here, we analyze maize yield trends in China from 1982 to 2016 and show that an increase in the total number of drought days is associated with significant yield declines.

The Use of Purified and Modified Cellulose in Wine Production and Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Food Science, Volume 91, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Cellulose is not only one of the most abundant biological macromolecules but can also be purified and modified to serve a multitude of purposes in industrial winemaking processes. Being composed of only glucose and naturally occurring unbranched in nature as strands and fibrils, cellulose can be used for filtration directly or as a filtration ...

Refuge by day, forage by night: Diel activity of vine weevil as characterised by smart monitoring

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, Volume 28, Issue 3, Page 508-514, August 2026.
Vine weevil activity was monitored using a Smart trap, which recorded diel refuge‐seeking behaviour. Increasing light intensity triggered refuge seeking behaviour, while lower light intensity induced forage seeking activity. Understanding vine weevil diel activity can enhance early detection, which can improve the effectiveness of integrated pest ...

5‐HT2A receptor agonism by tert‐leucinamide and valinamide synthetic cannabinoids: In vitro and in vivo evidence

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 16, Page 4715-4734, August 2026.
Abstract Background and Purpose New synthetic cannabinoid receptor agonists (SCRAs) are associated with severe adverse effects, including unexpected psychiatric symptoms. These compounds are mainly active through their potent agonism on the cannabinoid receptors CB1 and CB2.
