Genomic structure and ex situ conservation of the North American grapevine Vitis labrusca

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 5, Page 1649-1661, September 2026.
The North American wild grapevine species Vitis labrusca is an important source of disease resistance and climate resilience traits for breeding new grapevine cultivars. To ensure its continued use in breeding, V. labrusca must be accurately identified and genetically diverse material must be conserved.

Alcoholic extracts of Russian sage (Salvia yangii) contain bioactive terpenoids with inhibitory activity against grapevine downy mildew (Plasmopara viticola)

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8159-8170, September 2026.
Alcoholic extracts from flowers, leaves, and shoots of Russian sage decreased downy mildew severity on grapevine leaf disks. Fractionation followed by metabolomic analysis revealed putative terpenoids as the main components of the active fractions. Specifically, 7‐methylrosmanol, 12‐O‐methylcarnosic acid, carnosic acid, and carnosol were identified as ...

A synergistic alliance between nematophagous fungi and organic matter against plant‐parasitic nematodes: a systematic review

open access: yesPest Management Science, Volume 82, Issue 9, Page 8104-8119, September 2026.
Certain beneficial fungi are widely used to control harmful nematodes in crops, especially when combined with organic matter. Together, they improve soil health, support plant growth, and enhance nutrient cycling. This natural partnership offers a promising, environmentally friendly approach to strengthening sustainable agriculture and reducing ...

Functionally Relevant Feeding Enrichment: An Examination of Nectar Feeding Devices With Two Species of Parrot

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Nectar‐based feeding devices increased aerial activity and bucket use while reducing bowl use in rainbow lorikeets but produced little behavioural change in regent parrots. Species‐specific feeding enrichment promotes natural foraging behaviour and may improve welfare in captive nectarivorous parrots.

Adoption Dynamics of Fungus‐Resistant Grapevine Varieties: A Real Options Approach

open access: yesAgricultural Economics, Volume 57, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Viticulture is a key economic sector in Europe, but responsible for vast amounts of fungicide use. Fungus‐resistant grapevine varieties are less susceptible to fungal diseases, reducing fungicide use by up to 80%. However, their adoption remains limited, despite their economic and environmental advantages.
