Nitrogen composition in cv. Monastrell berries under climate change: The role of vineyard management

open access: yesJournal of Agriculture and Food Research
Environmental conditions strongly influence grape amino acid profiles, which are key for fermentation and wine aroma. However, the combined effects of climate-driven warming and reduced rainfall together with vineyard management on berry amino acid ...

Supporting pollinators, resisting policy: The role of environmental attitudes and psychological reactance among farmers

open access: yesPeople and Nature, EarlyView.
Abstract Understanding how psychological constructs shape farmers' views on agri‐environmental policy and the role of pollinators in agriculture can help design effective and legitimate agricultural policies. While farmers are key actors in pollinator conservation, recent farmer protests indicate that their support for agri‐environmental policies such ...

Structural and Rheological Properties of Chitosan‐Biochar Composites Prepared With Waste Biomass‐Derived Biochar

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Chitosan dispersions containing biochar derived from vine pruning residue showed increasing shear stress and improved thermal stability with loading. Flow behavior was described by the Bingham plastic model in all cases. These results support the valorization of agricultural waste in functional biopolymer formulations.

Strategic irrigation management in Australian vineyards

open access: yesOENO One, 2001
<p style="text-align: justify;">Regulated Deficit Irrigation (RDI) and Partial Rootzone Drying (PRD) are examples of strategie irrigation management. They have been successfully adopted for winegrape production in Australia with the aim of controlling vegetative growth to produce 'balanced' vines, and to improve both water-use efficiency ...

Weeds in a changing climate: Competitors or service plants?

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Reducing herbicide use and preparing agroecosystems for climate change are two top priorities on the global policy agenda. Here, we explore whether these two challenges can be tackled simultaneously. While weeds are generally considered a threat to crop production, we show that weeds can help overcome climate change challenges in agroecosystems ...
