Revisiting the Reduction of Vinpocetine [PDF]
This study explores the reduction of C16‐C17 double bond of vinpocetine, yielding two epimers previously stereochemically misassigned. The correct stereochemical assignment is established by comprehensive NMR characterization, computational studies and X‐ray crystallography. Different reduction conditions and the corresponding epimer ratio are reported.
