Antibodies against viral nonstructural proteins in response to infection with poliovirus.

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1995
Sera from recent and past cases of poliomyelitis as well as from healthy subjects vaccinated with live attenuated poliovirus, all contain antibodies to poliovirus nonstructural proteins. Reactivity of these antisera with nonstructural protein antigens present in virus-infected HeLa cells or translated from cDNA transcripts in rabbit reticulocyte ...

Epitope mapping of bovine viral diarrhea virus nonstructural protein 3

Veterinary Immunology and Immunopathology, 2014
Six consecutive overlapped coding regions (F1-F6) of whole NS3 molecule of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) were cloned into pMAL-c2X plasmid vector and expressed in Escherichia coli cells (BL21 strain). The recombinant proteins were then purified by amylose resin to determine the most immunogenic domain(s) of the NS3 molecule.

Two newly detected nonstructural viral proteins in potyvirus-infected cells

Virology, 1991
The existence of two viral RNA-encoded proteins in cells infected with tobacco vein mottling potyvirus (TVMV) has been demonstrated. One of the proteins (named 34K) maps at the N-terminus of the TVMV polyprotein and the other (42K) between the helper component and cylindrical inclusion proteins; both had previously been predicted in the consensus ...

The Sendai virus nonstructural C proteins specifically inhibit viral mRNA synthesis

Virology, 1992
An in vitro transcription system for paramyxoviruses is described, in which polymerase-free templates are combined with cell extracts containing polymerase made in vivo via transfected plasmids. Both P and L are required for polymerase activity, and both must be coexpressed for optimum activity.

The SFTSV Nonstructural Proteins Induce Autophagy to Promote Viral Replication via Interaction with Vimentin

Journal of Virology, 2023
Severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus (SFTSV) is a newly emerging tick-borne pathogen that causes multifunctional organ failure and even death in humans. As a housekeeping mechanism for cells to maintain steady state, autophagy plays a dual role in viral infection and the host’s immune response.

Immunomodulatory Nonstructural Proteins of Influenza A Viruses.

Trends in Microbiology, 2018
Influenza epidemics and pandemics still represent a severe public health threat and cause significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. As intracellular parasites, influenza viruses are strongly dependent on the host cell machinery.

Rice grassy stunt virus nonstructural protein p5 serves as a viral suppressor of RNA silencing and interacts with nonstructural protein p3

Archives of Virology, 2015
Rice grassy stunt virus (RGSV), a member of the genus Tenuivirus, causes serious rice disease in Southeast Asian countries. In this study, a green fluorescent protein (GFP)-based transient expression assay was conducted to show that p5, encoded on RNA5 in the viral sense, is a viral suppressor of RNA silencing (VSR). Protein-protein interactions (PPIs)

Positive effect of the hepatitis C virus nonstructural 5A protein on viral multiplication

Archives of Virology, 2004
Hepatitis C virus infection (HCV), is a major cause of liver disease worldwide, and are frequently resistant to the interferon alpha treatment. The nonstructural (NS) 5A protein of HCV has been proposed to be involved in this resistance. Additional studies have pointed out a role for NS5A in several other cellular interactions as well as an important ...

Biochemical characterization of porcine enteric calicivirus: analysis of structural and nonstructural viral proteins

Archives of Virology, 1990
In this report, the molecular weight and antigenicity of the proteins of a porcine enteric calicivirus (PEC) were characterized. The PEC virions were purified from intestinal contents of infected pigs and from infected cell culture lysates. The average buoyant density of the purified virus was 1.37 gm/cm3 in cesium chloride.

Functional analysis of viral nonstructural and structural proteins

1989
The genera Alphavirus and Flavivirus contain enveloped RNA viruses which are similar in size, morphology, and RNA content, and were once considered to belong to the same family, the Togaviridae. Recently the flaviviruses were reclassified as a separate family, the Flaviviridae, because they differ markedly from alphaviruses in replication strategy and ...
