LenSelect: Object Selection in Virtual Environments by Dynamic Object Scaling

open access: yesFrontiers in Virtual Reality, 2021
We present a novel selection technique for VR called LenSelect. The main idea is to decrease the Index of Difficulty (ID) according to Fitts’ Law by dynamically increasing the size of the potentially selectable objects.

Virtual Elastic Objects

open access: yesCoRR, 2022
We present Virtual Elastic Objects (VEOs): virtual objects that not only look like their real-world counterparts but also behave like them, even when subject to novel interactions. Achieving this presents multiple challenges: not only do objects have to be captured including the physical forces acting on them, then faithfully reconstructed and rendered,

Using the Visuo-Haptic Illusion to Perceive and Manipulate Different Virtual Objects in Augmented Reality

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
The prop-based 3D virtual object manipulation method is widely used for interaction in Augmented Reality (AR) due to its convenience and flexibility. However, when the represented virtual object is different from the physical prop, the look and feel of ...

Objects, components, and the virtual enterprise [PDF]

open access: yesAddendum to the 1998 proceedings of the conference on Object-oriented programming, systems, languages, and applications (Addendum), 1998
We are currently witnessing a convergence of several threads of technology and business imperatives. The idea of a virtual enterprise (VE) – a business built from both organizationally and geographically distributed units – is becoming an area of increasing interest to both computer scientists and business people.

Virtualizing real-world objects [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings Computer Graphics International 2003, 2004
High quality, virtual 3D models are quickly emerging as a new multimedia data type with applications in such diverse areas as e-commerce, online encyclopedias, or virtual museums, to name just a few. We present new algorithms and techniques for the acquisition and real-time interaction with complex textured 3D objects and show how these results can be ...

Interactive multi-object tracking for virtual object manipulation [PDF]

open access: yesISPRS Annals of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences, 2013
We present an interactive system to manipulate a virtual object by tracking multiple hands in 3D space using a Kinect device. The system segments hand shapes from a captured 3D scene by using depth information and active contours.

Size Perception Bias and Reach-to-Grasp Kinematics: An Exploratory Study on the Virtual Hand With a Consumer Immersive Virtual-Reality Device

open access: yesFrontiers in Virtual Reality, 2021
While studies have increasingly used virtual hands and objects in virtual environments to investigate various processes of psychological phenomena, conflicting findings have been reported even at the most basic level of perception and action.
