Proceedings Sixth IEEE International Workshop on Rapid System Prototyping. Shortening the Path from Specification to Prototype, 2002
Prototyping has been used to develop electronic systems for a long time. In this work a new prototyping approach, that we named VHDL Virtual Prototyping, is introduced. The new approach introduces VHDL models as the hardware part of the system prototype.

Towards a virtual factory prototype
2015 Winter Simulation Conference (WSC), 2015A virtual factory should represent most of the features and operations of the corresponding real factory. Some of the key features of the virtual factory include the ability to assess performance at multiple resolutions and generate analytics data similar to what is possible in a real factory.

Virtual institutions prototype
International Joint Conference on Autonomous Agents and Multiagent Systems, 2009Virtual Institutions are Virtual Worlds with normative regulation of participants' interactions. This paradigm is based on normative multiagent systems and is technologically supported by Electronic Institutions. In this paper we outline the prototype that illustrates the application of Electronic Institutions to the domain of Virtual Worlds.

Rapid prototyping of virtual environments
Computing in Science & Engineering, 2000The goal of virtual reality is to fully or partially immerse a human in a visually coupled environment. By tracking the position and orientation of the user with sensors designed for this purpose and by coupling these measurements with a high-performance computer graphics system, we can generate a computer-synthesized view of a virtual environment that

A prototype virtual haptic bronchoscope
IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and System, 2003In this paper, we describe the design of the hardware and software for a virtual bronchoscope with force feedback. A haptic interface allows surgeons to feel the reaction force of virtual pneumonic surgery as if they were touching the area directly. We present novel algorithms for haptic force rendering, and examine its ability to display force.

Virtual prototypes in usability testing
Proceedings of the 34th Annual Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences, 2005This paper describes a study of a three-dimensional virtual prototype intended for usability resting and concept validation over the Internet. A virtual reality modeling language (VRML)-model of a fictive mobile phone concept with simulated interaction functionality was tested for usability following two approaches.

Virtual prototyping of mechatronic systems
Annual Reviews in Control, 2004Abstract Mechatronic systems abound in technological fields such as robotics and machine tools industry. Significant advances in dynamic performance of these systems can be achieved provided that mutual interactions of different domains (such as mechanics, electronics, hydraulics and control) are thoroughly understood.

Virtual prototyping of cellular phones
Software: Practice and Experience, 1999Software prototyping offers a fast, flexible and cost-effective alternative to physical prototyping during the analysis and design stages of commercial electronic products. This paper describes a software platform implemented to facilitate the virtual prototyping of cellular phone models at the analysis and design stages.
