Robotic Control for Human–Robot Collaborative Assembly Based on Digital Human Model and Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This work presents a robotic control method for human–robot collaborative assembly based on a biomechanics‐constrained digital human model. Reinforcement learning is used to generate physiologically plausible human motion trajectories, which are integrated into a virtual environment for robot control learning.

Preoperative Planning of Virtual Osteotomies Followed by Fabrication of Patient Specific Reconstruction Plate for Secondary Correction and Fixation of Displaced Bilateral Mandibular Body Fracture

open access: yes, 2016
This paper describes the course of treatment of a severely diplaced bilateral mandibular body fracture, where the first osteosynthesis failed. The subject developed an open bite due to a posterior rotation of the distal part of the mandible and anterior ...

Intelligent Maintenance Review for Robots: Multimodal Information, Deep Diagnosis and Embodied Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review maps the methods to monitor robots’ health by fusing vibration, sound, control signals, vision, force, and oil information with artificial intelligence. It identifies deep learning, transfer learning, digital twins, and physics‐informed models as key methodological pathways enabling earlier diagnosis, safer human–robot collaboration, and ...

A Low‐Cost, Handheld Optical Stiffness Sensor for Minimally Invasive Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A novel handheld stiffness sensor is presented for real‐time tissue stiffness characterization. By simultaneously sensing contact force and tissue deformation, the device enables accurate stiffness quantification without requiring precise manual control. This approach offers a promising solution for intraoperative tumor detection and minimally invasive

An Integrated Method for the Reconstruction of Private Renaissance Exhibition Rooms (camerini) Starting from Ippolito II d’Este’s Cabinet of Paintings at His Tiburtine Villa

open access: yesHeritage
This paper presents a new object of study—the so-called camerini, private rooms for study and reflection in the great stately palaces of the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, which contained riches and artistic heritage of inestimable value and were ...

Sketching-out virtual humans: A smart interface for human modelling and animation

open access: yes, 2007
In this paper, we present a fast and intuitive interface for sketching out 3D virtual humans and animation. The user draws stick figure key frames first and chooses one for “fleshing-out” with freehand body contours.

In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Everybody Else is doing It, so Why Can’t We? Low-tech and High-tech Approaches in Archaeological Open-Air Museums

open access: yesEXARC Journal, 2019
Some people believe that an open-air museum is a place where you leave your modern technique behind and go ‘low tech’. Other than the museums which act like digital free zones, many others experiment with going digital.

Synagogue Neudeggergasse: A Virtual Reconstruction in Vienna [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Issues associated with virtual reconstruction are first dealt within this paper. Visualizing of no longer existent (architecture-) objects and their surroundings practically amounts to a “virtual comeback”.
