Inhibitors of Helicobacter pylori protease HtrA found by "virtual ligand" screening combat bacterial invasion of epithelia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: The human pathogen Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a main cause for gastric inflammation and cancer. Increasing bacterial resistance against antibiotics demands for innovative strategies for therapeutic intervention.

Spontaneously broken technicolor and the dynamics of virtual vector technimesons

open access: yesPhysical Review D, 1993
We propose spontaneously breaking technicolor, thus liberating techniquarks and suppressing large resonance contributions to the electroweak $S$ parameter. The dynamics is modeled by a fermion bubble approximation to a single massive techni--gluon exchange potential. This contains a Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model with additional interactions.

DOA estimation with extended sparse and parametric approach in multi-carrier MIMO HFSWR

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
To obtain a higher angle resolution of multiple-in multiple-out high-frequency surface wave radar (MIMO HFSWR) for direction of arrival (DOA) estimation with a limited number of antenna sensors, multiple working frequencies are proposed to enlarge the ...

Fuzzy virtual ligands for virtual screening [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
A new method to bridge the gap between ligand and receptor-based methods in virtual screening (VS) is presented. We introduce a structure-derived virtual ligand (VL) model as an extension to a previously published pseudo-ligand technique [1]: LIQUID [2 ...

Virtual Vector-Based FCS-MPC for NPC Three-Level Grid-Tied Inverter Without Weighting Factor of Neutral-Point Voltage Balancing

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
The neutral-point clamped (NPC) inverter is widely used in energy conversion, but the unbalance of neutral-point voltage (NPV) will lead to imprecise control and the decline of power quality.

A Varied VSVM Strategy for Balancing the Neutral-Point Voltage of DC-Link Capacitors in Three-Level NPC Converters

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
In the research field of multilevel converters, three-level NPC (neutral-point-clamped) converters, which unfortunately may cause the deviation of the neutral-point voltage of DC-link capacitors, are widely discussed.

Data-Driven Virtual Flow Rate Sensor Development for Leakage Monitoring at the Cradle Bearing in an Axial Piston Pump

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
The leakage of the tribological contact in axial piston pumps significantly impacts the pump efficiency. Leakage observations can be used to optimize the pump design and monitor the behavior of the tribological contact.

Power Factor Control Method Based on Virtual Capacitors for Three-Phase Matrix Rectifiers

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
This paper proposes a novel input power factor control method based on a concept of virtual capacitors to provide unity input power factor for three-phase matrix rectifiers. The proposed algorithm introduces, at the input terminal of the matrix rectifier,
