They are now recognized as important pathogens in adults as well.

Propagation of Sindbis virus, Murray Valley encephalitis virus and Getah virus
Journal of Comparative Pathology, 1969A study was made of the propagation of 3 arboviruses, namely, Sindbis (MRM39), Murray Valley encephalitis (MRM66) and Getah (N544), in 12-day-old embryonated chicken eggs following inoculation into the allantoic cavity and in chickens hatching from infected eggs. Sindbis virus was detected from 1 to 5 days after inoculation.
