Topographical body fat distribution links to amino acid and lipid metabolism in healthy obese women [corrected]. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Visceral adiposity is increasingly recognized as a key condition for the development of obesity related disorders, with the ratio between visceral adipose tissue (VAT) and subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) reported as the best correlate of ...

AI‐Assisted Tumor Boundary Delineation via Targeted Ultrasmall Iron Oxide Nanoprobe for High‐Contrast HER2‐Positive Tumor Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel targeted and pH‐responsive MRI contrast agent was integrated with a 3D nnU‐Net deep learning framework to enable accurate delineation of tumor boundary morphology in HER2‐positive breast cancer imaging. ABSTRACT Breast cancer continues to be a leading cause of cancer‐related mortality in women globally, where precise diagnosis and clear tumor ...

Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition-defined malnutrition coexisting with visceral adiposity predicted worse long-term all-cause mortality among inpatients with decompensated cirrhosis

open access: yesNutrition & Diabetes
Background/objectives Malnutrition coexisting with abdominal adipose tissue accumulation bring a double burden on prognosis. More recently, the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) has reached a novel consensus concerning the diagnostic ...

Clinical significance of visceral fat reduction through health education in preventing atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease - Lesson from the Amagasaki Visceral Fat Study: A Japanese perspective

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2011
The metabolic syndrome has received worldwide recognition and is useful clinical aid in early-preventing atherosclerosis. Visceral adiposity is the main component of the metabolic syndrome in Japan, based on ethnic and racial difference in the pattern of

Macrophage PABPC4‐SPP1 Axis Orchestrates Immunosuppression in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the CRC microenvironment, macrophage PABPC4 binds to the 3′UTR of SPP1 mRNA to stabilize its expression, thereby sustaining M2‐like immunosuppressive macrophage polarization. Concurrently, this axis suppresses CD8+ T cell effector functions via CD44 signaling, collectively fostering an immunosuppressive niche that drives tumor progression.

Visceral Adiposity Is Associated with Serum Retinol Binding Protein-4 Levels in Healthy Women

open access: yes, 2007
OBJECTIVE: Retinol binding protein-4 (RBP4) has been reported to impair insulin sensitivity throughout the body. We investigated the relationship between serum RBP4 levels and adiposity indices as well as metabolic risk variables.

Oral Nanomicelle‐Mediated Sequential Butyrate Production in the Intestine for Ulcerative Colitis and Immunosuppression Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
After oral administration, inodorous GLU‐BA self‐assembles into nanomicelles in aqueous environments to resist premature gastric adsorption. Upon reaching the intestine, endogenous esterases rapidly cleave the built‐in ester bonds in these nanomicelles to release BA and GLU, with GLU further metabolized by gut microbiota to gradually generate BA ...

Echocardiographic Assessment of Epicardial Adipose Tissue - A Marker of Visceral Adiposity

open access: yes, 2007
Visceral adipose tissue predicts an unfavorable cardiovascular and metabolic risk profile in humans. Existing methods to assess visceral adipose tissue have been limited.

Combined impact of cardiorespiratory fitness and visceral adiposity on metabolic syndrome in overweight and obese adults in Korea.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2014
BackgroundObesity, especially visceral obesity, is known to be an important correlate for cardiovascular disease and increased mortality. On the other hand, high cardiorespiratory fitness is suggested to be an effective contributor for reducing this risk.
