Short-term effects of X-ray on viscoelastic properties of epithelial cells
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part H: Journal of Engineering in Medicine, 2019Examining the effects of ionizing radiation on the living cell is significant due to its usage in recent centuries. Investigations into the long- and short-term effects of ionizing radiation began simultaneously with its discovery. Previous studies were done on the effects of radiation on cell DNA or the biochemical cycle based on ...

Long-term crack resistance of aging viscoelastic composite in static loading
International Applied Mechanics, 1999In the framework of the theory of subcritical crack development in viscoelastic bodies (see \textit{A.~A.~Kaminskii} and \textit{G.~V.~Gavrilov}, Prikl. Mekh. 34, No.~11, 60--66 (1998)) the initial stage of the subcritical crack development in the aging composite plate under constant external loading is investigated in terms of the generalized method ...

Effects of Strain on the Long Term Rheology of Filled Viscoelastic Solids
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2008Filled viscoelastic solids, or building joint sealants, are essential components of modern construction. They serve in the weatherproofing of buildings and structures by preventing moisture intrusion. The most important property is the ability to respond to imposed strain caused by temperature or moisture changes in the structural building components ...

Long-term viscoelastic response in physically aging amorphous polymers
Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1998Abstract Based on the concept of transient networks, a constitutive model is derived for the long-term viscoelastic response in physically aging amorphous polymers. Breakage and reformation rates for active chains of various kinds are assumed to depend on a sum of free-volume fractions, which are governed by kinetic equations. Comparison of numerical

Markovian approximation of linear systems with fractional viscoelastic term
2017It is well known that the response of a linear system enforced by a Gaussian white noise is Markovian. The order of Markovianity is n-1 being n the maximum order of the derivative of the equation ruling the evolution of the system. However when a fractional operator appears, the order of Markovianity of the system becomes infinite.

Coupled Lamé System with a Viscoelastic Term and a Strong Discrete Time Delays
Journal of Partial Differential EquationsSummary: In this paper, we consider a coupled Lamé system with a viscoelastic damping in the first equation and two strong discrete time delays. We prove its existence by using the Faedo-Galerkin method and establish an exponential decay result by introducing a suitable Lyapunov functional.
