Viscosity approximation method for a variational problem

open access: yesJournal of Nonlinear Sciences and Applications, 2023
Let $Q$ be a nonempty closed and convex subset of a real Hilbert space $% \mathcal{H}$, $S:Q\rightarrow Q$ a nonexpansive mapping, $A:Q\rightarrow Q$ an inverse strongly monotone operator, and $f:Q\rightarrow Q$ a contraction mapping. We prove, under appropriate conditions on the real sequences $% \{α_{n}\}$ and $\{λ_{n}\},$ that for any starting point

Blood viscosity at different stages of diabetes pathogenesis

open access: yes, 2010
Hyperglycaemia-induced oxidative stress is implicated as a cause of increased whole blood viscosity (WBV), which is a clinically modifiable risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD).

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

The combined effect of couple stresses, variable viscosity and velocity-slip on the lubrication of finite journal bearings

open access: yesAin Shams Engineering Journal, 2020
We examine the combined effect of variable viscosity, velocity slip, and the couple stress lubricant on a finite journal bearing. In our model, we utilize the Stokes micro-continuum theorem, the Barus formula, and an artificial (homogeneous) slip surface

The effect of PP molecular weight on the complex viscosity of PP/EPDM blends

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2021
The effect of the molecular weight of isotactic polypropylene (PP) on the complex viscosity of unvulcanized and dynamically vulcanized blends of PP with ethylene-propylene-diene monomer (EPDM) was investigated.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Wave-Modified Ekman Current Solutions for the Time-Dependent Vertical Eddy Viscosity

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2021
This study aimed to highlight a general lack of clarity regarding the scale of the temporal averaging implicit in Ekman-type models. Under the assumption of time and depth-dependent eddy viscosity, we present an analytical Fourier series solution for a ...

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Effects of Shear Dependent Viscosity and Variable Thermal Conductivity on the Flow and Heat Transfer in a Slurry

open access: yesEnergies, 2015
In this paper we study the effects of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity on the heat transfer in the pressure-driven fully developed flow of a slurry (suspension) between two horizontal flat plates.
