Dynamics of DNA Bubble in Viscous Medium

open access: yes, 2012
The damping effect to the DNA bubble is investigated within the Peyrard-Bishop model. In the continuum limit, the dynamics of the bubble of DNA is described by the damped nonlinear Schrodinger equation and studied by means of variational method.

Nonlinear spiral density waves - Viscous damping

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 1985
The formalism of Borderies, Goldreich, and Tremaine (1984), as simplified by Shu and Stewart (1985), is used to develop a theory for the viscous damping of nonlinear density waves in particulate disks of moderate collision frequency. The specific application is to Saturn's rings, but the development is general enough to allow application to a wider ...

All‐Optical Reconfigurable Physical Unclonable Function for Sustainable Security

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An all‐optical reconfigurable physical unclonable function (PUF) is demonstrated using plasmonic coupling–induced sintering of optically trapped gold nanoparticles, where Brownian motion serves as a robust entropy source. The resulting optical PUF exhibits high encoding density, strong resistance to modeling attacks, and practical authentication ...

Demonstration of a switchable damping system to allow low-noise operation of high-Q low-mass suspension systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Low mass suspension systems with high-Q pendulum stages are used to enable quantum radiation pressure noise limited experiments. Utilising multiple pendulum stages with vertical blade springs and materials with high quality factors provides attenuation ...

Equivalent Viscous Damping Coefficient of Sucker Rod String Wave Equation

open access: yesShiyou jixie, 2016
In order to improve the estimation accuracy of viscous damping coefficient of sucker rod sting’s wave equation,a method of determining viscous damping coefficient based on equal friction loss has been proposed.By establishing motion equation of laminar ...

Seismic Response Mitigation of a Long-Span Tower Bridge with Two Types of Constraint System

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, 2020
The stress of the main tower of a cable-stayed bridge depends on the connection type between the tower and deck. In order to study the most suitable longitudinal damping mode for a long-span cable-stayed bridge.

Cascades of energy and helicity in the GOY shell model of turbulence

open access: yes, 1997
The effect of extreme hyperviscous damping, $\nu k_n^p, p=\infty$ is studied numerically in the GOY shell model of turbulence. It has resently been demonstrated [Leveque and She, Phys. Rev. Lett, 75,2690 (1995)] that the inertial range scaling in the GOY

Oscillations of a gas pocket on a liquid-covered solid surface [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The dynamic response of a gas bubble entrapped in a cavity on the surface of a submerged solid subject to an acoustic field is investigated in the linear approximation.

Decoding THz‐Driven Dynamic Fingerprints of Ferroelectric Nanotwin Networks

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Ultrafast polarization dynamics in ferroelectrics are of considerable interest for high‐speed tunable dielectrics and electro‐optics. Extended domain wall networks formed in ferroelectric twin nanodomains can support collective dynamics in the terahertz regime but require techniques that track polarization and strain evolution driven by ...
