Nonlinear enhanced dissipation in viscous Burgers type equations [PDF]

open access: greenCommunications in Partial Differential Equations, 2022
We construct a class of infinite mass functions for which solutions of the viscous Burgers equation decay at a better rate than the solution of the heat equation for the same initial data in this class. In other words, we show an enhanced dissipation coming from a nonlinear transport term.

Numerical Analysis of Viscous Dissipation in Microchannel Sensor Based on Phononic Crystal [PDF]

open access: yesMicromachines, 2021
Phononic crystals with phononic band gaps varying in different parameters represent a promising structure for sensing. Equipping microchannel sensors with phononic crystals has also become a great area of interest in research.

Joule heating and viscous dissipation effect on electroosmotic mixed convection flow in a vertical microchannel subjected to asymmetric heat fluxes

open access: yesPropulsion and Power Research, 2021
The impact of Joule heating due to electric double layer (EDL) and viscous dissipation on electroosmotic mixed convection flow in a vertical microchannel with asymmetric heat fluxes is established in this article.

Investigations of hydraulic transient flows in pressurized pipeline based on 1D traditional and 3D weakly compressible models

open access: yesJournal of Hydroinformatics, 2021
Transient flow characteristics and dissipation mechanism in pressurized pipeline were investigated based on 1D friction models and 3D turbulence models, where the pressure–density model was combined into the 3D continuity equation allowing for the ...

Temperature rise by viscous dissipation effect on synovial fluid induced by oscillating motion in artificial hip joint

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
A distinctive case study on the temperature rise, induced exclusively by viscous dissipation effect, due to the oscillating motion on a specific composition of synovial fluid within a clearance alike to an artificial hip joint, is investigated ...

Viscous Dissipation Impact on Free Convection Flow of Cu-water Nanofluid in a Circular Enclosure with Porosity Considering Internal Heat Source [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied and Computational Mechanics, 2019
In this work, free convection of Cu-water nanofluid in an enclosure by considering internally heat generated in the porous circular cavity and the impacts of viscous dissipation are numerically evaluated by control volume finite element method (CVFEM ...

Viscous dissipation effect on CuO-Water nanofluid-cooled microchannel heat sinks

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering, 2021
While a microchannel heat sink is known to regulate the temperatures of microelectronics devices, viscous dissipation that originates from work done by viscous forces, might have an impact on the heat convection coefficient from a heated boundary.
