Indoor Localization Using K-Pairwise Light Emitting Diode Image-Sensor-Based Visible Light Positioning

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A great deal of research has been devoted to studying indoor localization schemes for the development of location-based services. This study investigated an indoor localization system, including subsystems of nonline-of-sight (NLOS) image-sensor-based ...

Vehicular Visible Light Positioning with a Single Receiver

open access: yes2019 IEEE 30th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2019
Vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication and positioning systems are expected to play an important role in the development of future automated and autonomous vehicle safety concepts. Visible light communication and positioning (VLC and VLP) promise high data rates and cm-level positioning accuracy, respectively, with vehicle head/tail lights.

Joint received signal strength, angle-of-arrival, and time-of-flight positioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents a software positioning framework that is able to jointly use measured values of three parameters: the received signal strength, the angle-of-arrival, and the time-of-flight of the wireless signals.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

CubeSats as pathfinders for planetary detection: the FIRST-S satellite

open access: yes, 2014
The idea behind FIRST (Fibered Imager foR a Single Telescope) is to use single-mode fibers to combine multiple apertures in a pupil plane as such as to synthesize a bigger aperture. The advantages with respect to a pure imager are i) relaxed tolerance on

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by
