Light positioning: A high-accuracy visible light indoor positioning system based on attitude identification and propagation model

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2018
With the booming development of green lighting technology, visible light-based indoor localization has attracted a lot of attention. Visible light-based indoor positioning technology leverages a light propagation model to pinpoint target location ...

A new accurate localization method in underground tunnel of coal mine

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2015
In view of problem of low accuracy of localization system based on electromagnetic wave in underground coal mine, an accurate localization method based on visible light communication in underground coal mine was proposed.

Indoor Positioning Using Visible Light Communications [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The effort to provide accurate location based services has increased with the use of mobile devices. But there is no standard method for indoor localization and navigation services. Previous solutions in the literature are hard to implement in real life situations because they need modifications on the receiver.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

CubeSats as pathfinders for planetary detection: the FIRST-S satellite

open access: yes, 2014
The idea behind FIRST (Fibered Imager foR a Single Telescope) is to use single-mode fibers to combine multiple apertures in a pupil plane as such as to synthesize a bigger aperture. The advantages with respect to a pure imager are i) relaxed tolerance on

Applied Visible Light Positioning

open access: yes, 2021
Positioning is not a new problem. Humanity has attempted to determine its location for centuries with tools such as sextants, clocks, maps, and more. One of the largest revolutions in this field is arguably the advent of the global positioning system (GPS), which can provide position information almost anywhere on earth.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 increases metastatic potential and aggressiveness in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...
