The stability of 3 transmembrane and 4 transmembrane human vitamin K epoxide reductase models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
3 transmembrane and 4 transmembrane helices models are suggested for the human vitamin K epoxide reductase (VKOR). In this study, we investigate the stability of the human 3 transmembrane/4 transmembrane VKOR models employing a coarse-grained normal mode analysis and molecular dynamics simulation.

Targeting PRAME directly or via EZH2 inhibition overcomes retinoid resistance and represents a novel therapy for keratinocyte carcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The study evaluated the function and therapeutic implications of PRAME in basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). The findings demonstrate that PRAME impairs keratinocyte differentiation pathways. Furthermore, PRAME impairs anticancer response to retinoid compounds in BCC and SCC cells.

Bone‐wise rigid registration of femur, tibia, and fibula for the tracking of temporal changes

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Multiple myeloma (MM) induces temporal alterations in bone structure, such as osteolytic bone lesions, which are challenging to identify through manual image interpretation. The large variation in radiologists' assessments, even at expert centers, further complicates diagnosis.

Network pharmacology-based approach for exploring the biotargets and mechanisms of vitamin A for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers

open access: yesFrigid Zone Medicine, 2023
In some developing countries, people have little knowledge about the causes of diabetic foot ulcers. Therefore, public health education for patients on these conditions is a prerequisite for effective pharmacological treatment. Diabetic foot ulcers are a

Vitamin D – The Vitamin Hormone

open access: yesSouth African Family Practice, 2016
Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that plays an important role in bone metabolism and seems to have some anti-inflammatory and immune-modulating properties. For most people sunlight is the most important source of vitamin D. The time required to make sufficient vitamin D varies according to a number of environmental, physical and personal factors, but
