Vitamin B Deficiency Does not Affect the Liver Concentrations of the Other Seven Kinds of B-Group Vitamins in Rats

open access: yesNutrition and Metabolic Insights, 2013
We aimed to determine the effects of vitamin B 1 deficiency on vitamin contents of urine, liver, and blood. In the current study, rats were divided into 3 groups (n = 5, each group): the first was freely fed a complete diet (ad lib-fed control group ...

Using In Situ TEM to Understand the Surfaces of Electrocatalysts at Reaction Conditions: Single‐Atoms to Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes recent advances in closed‐cell in situ TEM strategies for accurate determination of the activity and stability of single‐atom catalyst systems during operation. Operando conditions causing dynamic changes of SAC systems are highlighted and we explain why ensemble average‐based optical techniques may benefit from the technological

Region‐to‐Region Unidirectional Connection In Vitro Brain Model for Studying Directional Propagation of Neuropathologies

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A unidirectional cerebral organoid–organoid neural circuit is established using a microfluidic platform, enabling controlled directional propagation of electrical signals, neuroinflammatory cues, and neurodegenerative disease–related proteins between spatially separated organoids.

Megaloblastic anaemia in vitamin B12deficiency [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Nutrition, 2003
In rats, in contrast with human subjects who develop megaloblastic anaemia due to vitamin B 12 deficiency, haematological abnormalities with anaemia were not observed under normoxic conditions even though plasma vitamin B 12 concentration was reduced to < 15 % of a normal concentration by depleting dietary vitamin B 12 .

Programmable DNA‐Peptide Hybrid Nanostructures for Potent Neutralization of Multiple Influenza a Virus Subtypes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multivalent antiviral platform based on honeycomb‐shaped DNA nanostructures (HC–Urumin) is developed to enhance the potency and breadth of the host defense peptide Urumin. Through spatially patterned trimeric presentation, HC–Urumin disrupts influenza A virus entry, improves cell viability, and reduces disease severity in vivo‐offering a modular and ...
