Premarital screening of 466 Mediterranean women for serum ferritin, vitamin B12, and folate concentrations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background/aim: Iron, folate, and vitamin B12 serum levels are closely related with dietary habits and have an essential role in the healthy development of a fetus.

Integrated Visible Light and Oxidant Protection Through Multifunctional Sunscreens

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
High‐energy visible radiation (HEVR), although less energetic than UV light, penetrates deeper into the skin and contributes to photoaging, pigmentation disorders, and oxidative stress. The development of new HEVR‐targeted filters, therefore, represents not only a scientific challenge but also a pressing public health and cosmetic industry need.

Single-Cell RNA-seq Reveals Profound Alterations in Mechanosensitive Dorsal Root Ganglion Neurons with Vitamin E Deficiency. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Ninety percent of Americans consume less than the estimated average requirements of dietary vitamin E (vitE). Severe vitE deficiency due to genetic mutations in the tocopherol transfer protein (TTPA) in humans results in ataxia with vitE deficiency (AVED)

Safety and Effectiveness of Stoss Therapy in Children with Vitamin D Deficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Objectives: Paediatric vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D - 25OHD) deficiency can lead to nutritional rickets and extra-skeletal complications. Compliance with daily therapy can be difficult, making high dose, short-term vitamin D (stoss) therapy attractive ...

Bacteria‐Responsive Nanostructured Drug Delivery Systems for Targeted Antimicrobial Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Bacteria‐responsive nanocarriers are designed to release antimicrobials only in the presence of infection‐specific cues. This selective activation ensures drug release precisely at the site of infection, avoiding premature or indiscriminate release, and enhancing efficacy.

Increased plasma lipidperoxidation in vitamin B-6 deficient rats.

open access: yesIndian journal of experimental biology, 1991
Lipidperoxidation in plasma of rats fed with vitamin B-6 deficient diet for a period of 12 weeks was studied with pair-fed controls. Plasma pyridoxal 5'-phosphate, alanine amino transferase and aspartate amino transferase, the markers of vitamin B-6 status, were significantly low in vitamin B-6 deficient rats.

3D Anodic Alumina Nanoarchitectures: A Decade of Progress from Foundational Science to Functional Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ordered three‐dimensional anodic aluminum oxide (3D‐AAO) nanoarchitectures with longitudinal and transverse pores enable architecture‐driven metamaterials. The review maps fabrication advances, including hybrid pulse anodization, and shows how 3D‐AAO templates tailor properties across magnetism, energy, catalysis, and sensing.

Vitamin D supplementation does not improve human skeletal muscle contractile properties in insufficient young males [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Vitamin D may be a regulator of skeletal muscle function, although human trials investigating this hypothesis are limited to predominantly elderly populations.
