Viterbi Decoder on HF Channels
MILCOM 1986 - IEEE Military Communications Conference: Communications-Computers: Teamed for the 90's, 1986A new HF modem that relies on Viterbi decoding is described. This software-implemented low to medium rate HF modem incorporates convolutional codes with interleaving and soft Viterbi decoding. Its performance is compared to the theoretical one, as well as to that of an existing, widely used HF modem. It is shown that the interleaved Viterbi decoder and

Smart Pixel Based Viterbi Decoder
Optical Computing, 1995As voice and data communications networks proliferate, they face ever increasing demands for reliability, portability, and bandwidth. In many applications, the transmitted power is limited by practical considerations. Examples include satellite, cellular, and undersea long haul fiber communications systems.

Array Processors for Viterbi Decoder
2005 2nd International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems, 2005Wireless receivers are often characterized as portable and battery operated. As such, they are bound by a tight set of constraints such as power consumption, area usage, and throughput speed. Parallel implementation of operations increases the speed of computation without an undue increase in lock frequency.

Performance of analog Viterbi decoding
42nd Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (Cat. No.99CH36356), 2003We propose the Binary-Analog Channel (BAC) as a model for a binary communication channel accounting for analog saturation effects, and use the model to analyze analog Viterbi decoding. We also model imperfections in the VLSI implementation of the analog decoder, to estimate practical performance.

Trellis decoding is used to recover encoded information that was corrupted during transmission over a noisy channel. The Viterbi algorithm is the most well-known trellis-based maximum likelihood decoding algorithm. The Viterbi algorithm is executed by a Viterbi decoder.

An Asynchronous Viterbi Decoder
2001Viterbi decoders are used for decoding data encoded using convolutional forward error correcting codes. Such codes are used in a large proportion of digital transmission and digital recording systems because, even when the transmitted signal is subjected to significant noise, the decoder is still able efficiently to determine the most likely ...

An effective simplifying scheme for viterbi decoder
IEEE 60th Vehicular Technology Conference, 2004. VTC2004-Fall. 2004, 1991A new reduced-state decoding method is presented. The method constructs state-sets, then classifies, compares, and selects states through certain rules based on a Viterbi algorithm (VA). The decoder complexity is reduced to increasing linearly with constraint-length, as compared to the VA whose complexity increases exponentially with constraint-length.

Efficient scalable architectures for Viterbi decoders
Proceedings of International Conference on Application Specific Array Processors (ASAP '93), 2002Viterbi decoders (VDs) are widely used today for the decoding of convolutional codes in forward error correction schemes. Efficient deeply pipelined VLSI architectures, the generalized cascade VD and the trellis pipeline-interleaving (TPI) VD are adaptable to a given data rate only to a limited extent.

A Low Power Asynchronous Viterbi Decoder
2019 9th International Conference on Emerging Trends in Engineering and Technology - Signal and Information Processing (ICETET-SIP-19), 2019Todays need is for increased content and bandwidth to drive communication systems, error control coding has a great demand. To maintain high reliable data and to improve the Bit Error Rate (BER), error correction technique like the Viterbi algorithm is one of the promising solutions. Though it is useful for error correction it dissipates large power. A
