Electromagnetic actuator for voice coil

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1979
An electromagnetic actuator for linear driving of movable heads of a magnetic disc unit in an information processing system. A plurality of slits or plates are provided with a magnetic pole inscribed directly on the internal surface of a permanent magnet, and increase magnetic reluctance of the magnetic path and reduce inductance of a moving coil, thus

Modeling Voice Coil Actuators with Recurrent Neural Network

2018 IEEE 27th Conference on Electrical Performance of Electronic Packaging and Systems (EPEPS), 2018
In order to accurately model the behaviors of a voice coil actuator (VCA), three-dimensional (3-D) simulation is preferred over a lumped model. However, the 3-D simulation for a VCA can be very computationally expensive, which is due to the spatial discretization, the multiphysics nature, and the nonlinearities of the VCA system.

A High Performance Voice Coil Actuator for Optomechatronic Applications

Journal of Mechanisms and Robotics, 2017
Voice coil actuators (VCAs) are simple electro-mechanical devices, which are capable of generating linear motion in response to an electrical input. The generic cylindrical design of commercially available actuators imposes a large variety of limitations on the end user.

Dynamic Modeling of Voice Coil Motor-Actuated Flexible Membranes

Volume 2: Intelligent Transportation/Vehicles; Manufacturing; Mechatronics; Engine/After-Treatment Systems; Soft Actuators/Manipulators; Modeling/Validation; Motion/Vibration Control Applications; Multi-Agent/Networked Systems; Path Planning/Motion Control; Renewable/Smart Energy Systems; Security/Privacy of Cyber-Physical Systems; Sensors/Actuators; Tracking Control Systems; Unmanned Ground/Aerial Vehicles; Vehicle Dynamics, Estimation, Control; Vibration/Control Systems; Vibrations, 2020
Abstract In this paper, we derive a dynamical model for a controllable flexible membrane which is point-actuated by distributed voice coil motors (VCM) connected to it. Besides the modal analysis of the membrane motion, which is the only dynamics discussed in most of related published works treating external pressures as inputs, we ...

Atomic force microscopy using voice coil actuators for vibration isolation

2015 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2015
This paper presents a vibration isolation system integrated with the internal actuators of an atomic force microscope (AFM) to vertically move the probe. For the motion, voice coil actuators (Lorentz actuators) are guided by low-stiffness flexures. Due to the low stiffness, the vibrations from the floor to the probe are decoupled at high frequencies ...

A Review of Flexure Motion in Piezoelectric Actuators and Voice Coil Actuators

Applied and Computational Engineering
To design a flexible work platform capable of accommodating large travel distances while maintaining high-precision positioning, traditional drive mechanisms have proven inadequate in addressing the evolving demands of emerging technological fields. Consequently, advancements in drive mechanisms have become essential, prompting continuous updates and ...

Shorted turn effects in rotary voice coil actuators

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 1996
The response of a voice coil motor (VCM) with a moving shorted turn is examined in both the frequency and time domains. The shorted turn modifies the low frequency behavior of both the impedance and the transfer function between coil current and VCM torque; the voltage to VCM torque transfer function is minimally affected.

Design of a hopping mechanism using a voice coil actuator: Linear elastic actuator in parallel (LEAP)

2016 IEEE International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA), 2016
Among legged robots, hopping and running robots are useful because they can traverse terrain at high speeds and are a benchmark platform for locomotion actuators; if an actuator can power a hopping robot, it can power a walking robot. We aim to create a hopping mechanism for a small-scale, one-legged, untethered hopping robot.

Slaving and disabling actuators with voice-coil adaptive mirrors

2020
Adaptive mirrors based on voice-coil technology have force actuators with an internal metrology to close a local loop for controlling its shape in position. When actuators are requested to be disabled or slaved, control matrices have to be re-computed. The report describes the algorithms to re-compute the relevant matrixes for controlling of the mirror

Axially focused radial magnet voice coil actuator

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1997
A voice coil actuator (10) has a magnetic flux conductive material core (12), an axially focused, radially oriented magnet structure (14), and an electrical current conductive coil (16). The core has a first surface (18) and a continuous channel (20) disposed in the first surface.
