Probabilistic Flow Regime Map Modeling of Two-Phase Flow [PDF]
The purpose of this investigation is to develop models for two-phase heat transfer, void fraction, and pressure drop, three key design parameters, in single, smooth, horizontal tubes using a common probabilistic two-phase flow regime basis ...

Metallicities of galaxies in the nearby Lynx-Cancer void
Does the void environment have a sizable effect on the evolution of dwarf galaxies? If yes, the best probes should be the most fragile least massive dwarfs.

On the use of area-averaged void fraction and local bubble chord length entropies as two- phase flow regime indicators [PDF]
In this work, the use of the area-averaged void fraction and bubble chord length entropies is introduced as flow regime indicators in two-phase flow systems.

Simultaneous capacitive probe and planar laser-induced fluorescence measurements in downwards gas-liquid annular flow [PDF]
Various experimental techniques are available to analyse two-phase flows. The measurement concept and the applicability can however vary greatly. Prime examples from the opposite spectrum are planar laser-induced measurements (PLIF) versus capacitive ...

Similitude and scale effects of air entrainment in hydraulic jumps [PDF]
A hydraulic jump is characterised by some strong turbulence and air entrainment in the roller. New measurements were performed in two channels in which similar experiments with identical inflow Froude numbers and relative channel widths were conducted ...

Air cavities at the inner cylinder of turbulent Taylor-Couette flow [PDF]
Air cavities, i.e. air layers developed behind cavitators, are seen as a promising drag reducing method in the maritime industry. Here we utilize the Taylor-Couette (TC) geometry, i.e. the flow between two concentric, independently rotating cylinders, to

Eulerian-Lagrangian method for simulation of cloud cavitation [PDF]
We present a coupled Eulerian-Lagrangian method to simulate cloud cavitation in a compressible liquid. The method is designed to capture the strong, volumetric oscillations of each bubble and the bubble-scattered acoustics.

Gaussian integral method for void fraction
A novel method, the Gaussian Integral Method (GIM), is presented for calculating void fractions in Computational Fluid Dynamics-Discrete Element Method (CFD-DEM) simulations. GIM is versatile and applicable to various grid types, including structured and unstructured polyhedral meshes, without requiring special boundary treatments.

Void fraction measurement in cryogenic flows. Part II: Void fraction capacitive sensor performances in chilldown experiments [PDF]
Abstract This manuscript describes the work performed on void fraction measurements a cryogenic flow by means of a customized capacitive sensor. In a preceding activity, described in Part I, the instrument was developed and validated at room conditions.
