Anesthetic care for patients with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2020
Introduction: Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis, an autoimmune disorder resulting from antibodies directed against the NMDA (glutamate) receptor, is the second most frequent cause of immune-mediated encephalitis.

Injectable Deep Eutectic Solvent‐Based Ionic Gel With Rapid Gelation and Broad Hemostatic Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
An injectable deep eutectic solvent‐based ionic gel is developed for rapid in situ gelation and broad‐spectrum hemostatic functionality. The material combines high mechanical strength, strong tissue adhesion, and antibacterial activity, demonstrating potential as an advanced biofunctional gel for emergency bleeding control and wound care.

Effects of surgery and anesthetic choice on immunosuppression and cancer recurrence

open access: yesJournal of Translational Medicine, 2018
Background The relationship between surgery and anesthetic-induced immunosuppression and cancer recurrence remains unresolved. Surgery and anesthesia stimulate the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal (HPA) axis and sympathetic nervous system (SNS) to cause ...

Type of anesthesia for cancer resection surgery: No differential impact on cancer recurrence in mouse models of breast cancer.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundSurgery is essential for curative treatment of solid tumors. Evidence from recent retrospective clinical analyses suggests that use of propofol-based total intravenous anesthesia during cancer resection surgery is associated with improved ...

Critical Changes in Cortical Neuronal Interactions in Anesthetized and Awake Rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Neuronal interactions are fundamental for information processing, cognition and consciousness. Anesthetics reduce spontaneous cortical activity; however, neuronal reactivity to sensory stimuli is often preserved or augmented.

Neuroimmune Microenvironment Reprogramming via Immuno‐piezoelectric Transducers for Synergistic Stem Cell Therapy in Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A novel immuno‐piezoelectric transducer is innovatively developed. This device promotes neural stem cell (NSC) differentiation and maturation via ultrasound‐induced electrical stimulation and it amplifies the therapeutic efficacy of NSC in traumatic brain injury (TBI) by modulating the immune microenvironment. This piezoelectric transducer with “immune‐

Anesthetic considerations during surgical intervention in Woake’s syndrome -a case report [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2019
Background Woake’s syndrome (WS) is a recurrent nasal polyposis, accompanied by broadening of the nose, frontal sinus aplasia, dyscrinia, and bronchiectasis. There has been no previous report on anesthetic management in patients with WS. Case We describe

The volatile anesthetic isoflurane induces ecto-5′-nucleotidase (CD73) to protect against renal ischemia and reperfusion injury

open access: yesKidney International, 2013
The volatile anesthetic isoflurane protects against renal ischemia and reperfusion injury by releasing renal tubular TGF-β1. Since adenosine is a powerful cytoprotective molecule, we tested whether TGF-β1 generated by isoflurane induces renal tubular ...

Solvent‐Free Mechanocatalytic Reduction of Nitro Compounds with Hydrogen Gas and its Application in the Synthesis of Drugs and their Intermediates

open access: yesAdvanced Synthesis &Catalysis, EarlyView.
A solvent‐free mechanochemical reduction of nitro compounds using hydrogen gas is presented. In addition to enabling the synthesis of a variety of functionalized aniline derivatives, the method has been scaled up to gram quantities, evaluated for trace metal impurities, and applied to the synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds and their precursors.
